"Verbatim:
“I’m concerned about who will be chosen for leadership next year”- Player in a team meeting
“That’s a coaching decision”- Head Coach
“Right”- Player in a team meeting
“That’s an example, I understand your frustrations dude but I’m just gonna tell you exactly like it is, I love you to death, it’s MY freaking program and I’m not gonna be questioned on leadership. You may hear of other programs voting, all that does is turn into a damn popularity contest.”- Head Coach
Maybe there’s a reason their teammates would not elect them?
He will claim that this program belongs to the players, only when it is for his own benefit. The players will always be the people you see “selling” the program to recruits and their families, not the dude players will be supposedly “learning” from for their next four years. “His culture” is quite literally the worst there is out there in terms of team dynamic, but it’s his number one motto. Go figure."
"He will shove “this is a privilege not a right” down your child’s throat so often, they begin to question whether they deserve nice things / earned their way to this exciting point in their life.
He is a large part of the reason there is a mental health crisis in student-athletes. "
"In player-coach meetings he makes uncomfortable comments about players boyfriends/significant others. He'd rather talk about your social life than how to become a better soccer player. He does not have enough knowledge about the game to make his players better. He treats them poorly, doesn't aid them in what they need to improve on, and then lets them transfer just to sell his fake and toxic culture to the next high school senior that comes along. He does not care about the players. He cares about meeting quotas to keep his job. He calls them his "kids" yet screams at them using profanity and belittles them with rude "jokes". "
"So many girls have quit and transferred because of how he runs the program. It's a negative environment and everyone is miserable. He's not how he seems when he's recruiting you originally, feels like he doesn't even care about your well-being once you're actually there. "
