"We won more games last year during spring break with a smaller roster and we really didn’t even get to have a productive fall. Now we have a more talented roster and this clown doesn’t know how to write a line up. This team is ran like a slow pitch, rec ball, beer league. The best players don’t play. If you hit .097 chances are you’ll be put in to pinch hit in situations where we need to score. It’s all so laughable. On top of that the dude is a straight up weirdo. I would have ran through a wall last year for the team. He is the least motivating coach I’ve ever had and by far the most self righteous but hey atleast we get more expensive meals now so priorities. "

"Running the program like a travel ball organization. No standards what so ever. Players eat with their parents in between games and roam all over the place. Players miss practice and still play. Players constantly partying and drinking. Players that suck up the most get the most playing time. It’s wild this is what Division 2 is… my daughter had harder coaches in middle school. How he plays players makes zero sense, his substitutions make zero sense. This program was on a better track the year before then the AD stepped in and made it worse. The conference this year is significantly worse than previous years and the team is set up to be one of the best teams. It’s sad coaches like this exist. In it for the wrong reasons and additional pay check to grow his trash business. These girls deserve a heck of a lot more. You shouldn’t be able to say you’re injured and miss practice and then start. There’s so many more things I can say and it’s beyond frustrating to have to hear, watch and deal with. Maybe hire a coach that knows the game and doesn’t treat D2 like an elementary school team. Maybe hire a coach who isn’t arrogant and actually has manners. It’s bizarre this is the role model my daughter has to deal with. This terrible behavior has rubbed off as players now visibly get upset by umpires on the field. It’s all around terrible sportsmanship and a bad look for everyone. "

"DU Softball had a lot of potential but handed the team over to a youth tournament director and NAIA coach, taking this team further back. Plus rehiring a washed up pitching coach who has been tossed around from too many schools to mention, last coming from a community college program whose team folded. Not sure what credentials the interview committee was looking for but their standards were so low my garbage man probably could have applied and got the job. My daughter was recruited by the previous coaches and left during the turmoil. So glad she transferred when she did and is on a stable team where pitchers actually have to practice to throw in games. I can’t imagine a pitching coach telling her when she is injured not to practice and tell her he still wants her to pitch in games like they are doing to their pitcher rn. What a disgrace you are doing to these young women and the injuries you are going to cause long term. The head coach should not allow that. DU really needs to get this program under control and look out for their athletes best interest."

"Is it low softball IQ or plan stupidity to intentionally walk the bases loaded for a player who is on the NFCA National Player of the Year watch list. Not shocking that player drives a ball up the middle and we lose. Is that stupidity of not knowing your opponent? Is it stupidity of not knowing anything about D2? I just flat out don’t understand it at all. The decision making has been horrific. You look like a deer in headlights out there, slowly moving around, yelling at umpires for actually making the right calls. Are you drunk? "

"My daughter chose an in conference school over DU bc DU is private and way more expensive. I’ve been following their team for 2 years now. I’ve watched almost all of their games this year and I can say without a doubt I believe some of their stats are elevated. It doesn’t surprise me knowing their administration and leveraging the sports information job into the staff. I will keep watching but from what I’ve seen so far the stats are definitely being altered for certain players. Just to be clear I also follow other GLIAC teams and I just don’t have any trust that this is an ethical coach or school. "

Bad programI wouldn’t want my daughter to play for a chronic cry baby that gets warnings every other game. What does that teach your players? What I witnessed today was unnecessary. "From a male perspective and dad. It’s crazy to me what a male coach is allowed to get away with. I observed last year coach getting crucified for having athletes “be out of position” they called it. Asinine statement by Davenport Administration. Why is it seemingly ok now for girls to play positions they’ve never played before? Why is it ok for these uncalled for pinch hitters, substitutions and lacking softball IQ decisions. It’s all been very strange to observe. Is it because it’s a male coach or is the athletic administration that corrupt? I didn’t realize things like this happened at the college level. "

"Can’t tell you the last time I’ve seen a college coach not report a defensive change to the umpire. How embarrassing. Then our out gets taken away bc the opposing coach catches it. He should stick to taking pictures of his burrito. Can’t make this stuff up. & then to top it off why do we have all of our pitchers hoping of the ground. All the intentional walks and subs for our best hitters in key moments makes no sense. You are ruining the best players on the team. Bet you get a pay raise for kissing Ronda’s a*s. I thought it couldn’t get much worse when I watched her run every player out at home. Guess I was wrong. "

"The GLIAC has its tables turned. Alliances by DU, FSU and SVSU. Jon Regunfuss of the GLIAC is in on it too. I wouldn’t trust these people. Major tampering happening already. Dana is in with this crew. STATS AND awards are compromised. It’s already taking place and happening. Look at the awards already given by the conference. This is WRONG. Be aware. Be on notice. This is unbelievable. No one will stop this corrupt system but be aware it’s happening. "

"Being a travel ball coach and watching this all unfold the past 3 years has been interesting. Everyone and their mom knew Ronda planned on hiring Brad. How it was done and how she did it was a little baffling to me. This has all been pre planned. I feel sorry for anyone who came to play for the previous coaching staff as they are night and day different than Brad and his staff. I’m not sure why Brad was the chosen one once he capped off his teaching career but he was. I guess the AQ ties. Ronda is good at playing people and I feel sorry for anyone who thought anything could be built before his arrival. It’s interesting that more resources have been added in the budget and I anticipate the he will add a jv program like baseball did. I personally find Brad to be arrogant and annoying. With a teaching pension and over a $60,000 salary I bet he is living large. Knowing his character from growing up here I bet he does not care at all of the lives Ronda ruined to get him here. AQ is scheduled to go under soon as they are struggling financially. He ran AQ like a travel ball organization and more playing time will go to the parents that kiss a*s or pay him. It’s no surprise to me reading comments of his character, softball IQ and priorities. Not the best of people at this school. Classless really. Just an added money money maker as he thinks more BLUECHIP money will come as a D2 coach. "

"He intentionally walked 2 batters to load the bases for a .370 career hitter. Why would anyone do that? He consistently pinch hits for the team’s best hitters. He plays more people than my youth rec ball team. He is more interested in going to eat after the game than the actual game itself. Then the next game he forgot to report a defensive substitution so we didn’t even get the out. Just plain terrible. This is Division 2, high level softball. So far it’s been low IQ, participation trophy softball. Whining and complaining every game to the umpires isn’t a good look either. The team doesn’t match, people wear odd things on the field. I just don’t get it. High school has higher standards and structure. Not to mention we are an ADIDAS school and he wears Nike. Like what is actually happening? "

"I'm not sure what's worse: the intentional walks or the lineup decisions. When I was in middle school, the coach played the best players every game. Apparently, college softball is just rec league. Play whoever the hell you want, surely we will win a game. Every 12 year old who plays MLB the Show could run a team better than this. Also this guy couldn't motivate me to make a sandwich. "

"One of the only players with a hit in a game don’t worry he is going to pinch hit with a favorite. I’ve never seen anything like this before. Irritating that I’m watching such a talented team being crippled by coaching. This isn’t middle school. Don’t even get me started with the pitching decisions. It’s all so absurd why is he doing this. You aren’t playing our best team. Stop playing the AD's favorites that didn’t even play in high school. Our team is full of all state athletes. Let them play "

"I watched one of my best softball buddies get crucified by a kid that lied and quit on her team after a week. She got a group together to go after him at Toledo. Then she went and did the same thing to the Davenport team. Then you promote this player. You’re a sad, pathetic excuse of a person and coach. You know all about this. You were a big part of the entire plan. Everyone knows it. You don’t deserve to be in this sport. Hope your extra vacations are worth it. You can play dumb with your team but everyone knows. "

Selfish players are promoted at this school. Best thing we did was transfer. You really should be proud of athletes that get black out drunk and quit on their team! Awesome role models for younger girls. Lie and quit! Awesome job DU. He’s bffs with Ronda so he knows everything that was done and said. Sick people at DU"

I’ve personally read the emails as most coaches have and it’s insane that’s the promotion you want to display for the program. I had high hopes you would change things around but I can’t believe anyone would want to highlight a non team player that quits at the beginning of the season bc she wasn’t playing right away and then bashes the program and her own teammates. It’s a clown world we are all living in now. Ronda must have got to you too. Clown school 4 real"

"Embarrassing coach. Couldn’t even look me in the eye and give an honest answer. Manipulation at its finest. Liar and liked to pad his pockets with camps. Probably at a way better place to do that now. Gotta eat. "

"Only rich spoiled a*s people would call my family needy on social media. POS. Can you do any good without constantly posting about it. Seems fake as F to me. It’s not cool to call people struggling NEEDY. Wealthy people like you that eat every single meal out have no clue. Get one. "

"Pretty pathetic that this coach was coaching at Aquinas and was in contact with Ronda Varnesdeel about program purchases at Davenport while actively coaching another team. Our girls deserved better. Pretty evident his mind was elsewhere as the team performed pathetically in conference play and finished 7th. "
