"It is insane that everyone is willing to believe 2 swimmers who spoke out standing up for Chris over 6 swimmers who had proof and documentation on what Chris has done by the way. Chris knows how to manipulate Marymount University and manipulate swimmers. Not to mention the swimmers who spoke out are the “favorites” of the team. They don't know anything about the “real” Chris Natoli. "

"A disgrace to the sport of swimming. Natoli has been abusive to his athletes for years. The behavior he is exhibiting at Marymount is the exact same as when he coached at GMU. He picked favorites, athletes he deemed valuable enough for his time, and belittled the rest. He would make condescending and crude comments (especially to the women, which were often sexual and degrading) all the time and made the pool deck an extremely toxic environment. At GMU he refused to coach women, sending them to the opposite side of the pool and ignoring their existence because he only wanted to coach "winners" aka the men. With this behavior he drove a massive wedge between the mens and women's teams. He is nothing more than a bully and always has been. There aren't words strong enough to convey how horrible and toxic Natoli is, and its devastating to know that this behavior has been reported numerous times and never taken with the seriousness it deserves. Marymount has to decide if points are more important than the mental health and safety of their swimmers. GMU made the wrong choice once and its Marymount's time to correct it. To Marymount swimmers- I hope you know we understand what you are going through and stand by you during this! You are brave- dont back down!"

" This portion of a report someone wrote is bs. Its one thing to be loud while cheering someone on but its another to be loud and cruise on deck and scream profanity. He is negatively loud and using the wrong language. “ He is coaching college swim, grown adults, and he going to treat you like a grown adult” Grown Adults don't yell and cruise at each other in a regular basis. Treating someone like an adult is not cursing at them or calling them the “ r” word or grossly out of shape. So its not treating someone like an adult its bullying He always going to give reason why he may have you doing something out of the ordinary. He’s loud. "The few favorites have it easy but the rest of us don't. While he is great to 4-5 people he's a monster to the other 30. This team is a community as a whole not just about 5 people and leave out the rest. You can't just coach 5 people and be sweet and then totally not coach and bully the other 30. You have to coach everyone and be a positive role model to all. Definition of a good coach is coaches everyone, is a good role model in and out of the pool to everyone, gives challenging sets and pushes you to the limit but positively and makes time to help everyone. A good coach is making tough practices and challenging athletes to their full potential. But when pushing them you cheer them on common you got this. And to work with them through the challenges and help them grow. And if they don't make the set you adjust it or say we can work together to get you to make the set next time Chris will yell things and scream negatively while doing challenging stuff and not. "It’s horrible how Marymount University is not getting involved in this when it’s true. The accusations against Natoli are true. Multiple athletes went to the school and to higher up people to report the many different things he’s done, so therefore it’s true. No one let along multiple college students would go to a higher up and make stuff up. No one would lie about something this serious. Another thing is that there were many different situations that were brought up by many different people so therefore its true. If there are more then 1 or 2 people speaking out about the same person you know its true then. Also some of the situations that have happened have been repeated on numerous occasions. Another thing is that he had numerous quits in the last 2 years one was including the best female swimmer. So Marymount University needs to wake up and see all of this and how its all true and take action. "

"A few athletes did report that Mr. Natoli's verbal outbursts are regularly accompanied by physically aggressive behavior. A good example would be the time that Mr. Natoli threw whiteboard markers at someone their freshman year in a private meeting, that took place in Natoli’s office. He became enraged and slammed his hands on his desk so hard that items bounced off the desk. Mr. Natoli would throw stopwatches and other equipment on the ground or at the wall. This behavior made many athletes uncomfortable and, at times, fearful."

"Mr. Natoli does demonstrated a pattern of forcing athletes' to continue competing against doctors' orders and denying necessary medical care. For example, several of people witnessed Mr. Natoli yell at a swimmer with a medical issue for taking breaks during practice when their glucose monitor goes off. Multiple other athletes reported that they were pressured to compete through sickness or injury, even against medical recommendations."

"Thank God some of the students finally had the guts to speak up. I couldn't stay on that team with all the abuse. A bunch of us talked about it and some of us even tried to report him. But don't believe anything other than every report we made was ignored, or they tried to convince us WE were the ones who were wrong. I wish it was in time to save my swim career, but I'll be glad that hopefully, Marymount will stop him from hurting other athletes. "I have a hard time writing this review. While I may not be on this swim team I have heard from people who are. He has done so many bad things but the main things that stood out to me was this one comment that he would make to many of the swimmers such as “”get out of the pool your out of shape” or telling injured swimmers “get the f of my deck”. He also bullies so many of his swimmers that they quit. Look at the amount of quits they had and the team getting smaller. We can all thank him for that. "

"If you see good reviews for Natoli, they are prompted to try to save his terrible reputation. My roommate was one of his swimmers, and I finally just feel I have to speak up. There of 5 of 30 swimmers he really likes. The other 25, he could care less. But if he just ignored them, that would be better, but his screaming rants are legendary. Every morning my roomier would come back deflated and depressed. This coach should not be allowed around any swimmer. The language he uses, the bullying, the Marymount code of conduct violations are unbelievable. I watched my roomier become a different person swimming for him. Whatever anyone tells you, he is not appropriate toward athletes. The bystanders are too afraid to speak up to him as he threatens to throw them off the team. Some of there stories are reviews on this website. I suggest you listen to them. They are not exaggerating."

"I'm the parent of a swimmer at Marymount University. My daughter would call me every couple of days to talk about coach's outbursts and what insults were thrown towards her and her peers. She tried to talk to Jill McCabe, the athletic president, several times, but was told that maybe it was HER fault he was yelling at her and several others. She was told that "maybe he's just a loud coach." Loud coaches do not call females "clueless f*cking students" and "grossly out of shape." (She swam at Futures, definitely not out of shape)."

"I graduated from the program last year and am still in touch with the swimmers as part of Marymount's grad school. Not surprised to hear that he still encourages underage drinking while ripping the serious swimmers apart. If you take your swimming career seriously, it appears to intimidate him, and he places a target on your back. He wants to be the reason you are successful, if you are independently successful, you will be told the team is disappointed in you while he pats people on the back who see the sport as a fun side thing to do. My favorite memory was when he forced the injured swimmers to watch the 6am practices but tell them to "get the f*ck off my deck" if they wanted to come to meets and watch. I also really liked when he told a swimmer with the flu to come or "he isn't a part of this team" and he infected the whole team and practices had to be shut down. His sets are almost the exact same every day and it is evident he doesn't actually know much about swimming. My friends at George Mason said he got reported for his sexism there and came here and did the same stuff. He divides the team between favorites (partiers) and targets (academically strong). We've had 11 quits this year, including the best male and best female athlete. The spray tan does not fool anybody, even favorites know that he lacks knowledge. He's always loudest one trying to relive his college days."

"I have been on this team for a while, but I am quitting with some NCAA eligibility left. After our season ended Natoli continued to rage about a kid that isn't even on the team anymore. He kept telling us we were not allowed to complain about his actions to the compliance person, but we had to "say it to his face". Uh, hello? Saying anything to his face results in a tirade full of words I'm not allowed to say. I am just not comfortable here anymore. I should have spoken out earlier, and maybe some of the 5 kids that have quit this year would still be swimming. I have lost faith in my school to keep us safe, so I'm out. Frankly, I'm thinking about transferring schools so none of my money goes to paying him. Sad. This sport used to be the most fun I had all day, now I'm scared to come to practice because we never know what kind of mood he's in. I wish he could just be nice. We are good swimmers, and we work hard, and we want to represent our school and win. We're not getting any faster since being on his team, and it's just no fun. Other teams come to meets with costumes, or silly shoes, or something fun, and laugh and swim and do great. Natoli raged at some freshman last year for having a silly hat. I mean, why aren't we allowed to have any fun?"

"I really struggled with writing this review, but I think it is ethical to make sure new recruits are not fooled by this coach. Natoli is a great recruiter. He makes it sound like the team is one big happy family, and that is not true. I pretty much avoid him, and he leaves me alone for the most part, but I can't stand what he is doing to other swimmers. It looks like he picks a couple of us each season to bully and berate. If you're one of the ones we call "the favorites" you're fine. But if you're the one he's decided to bully that year -- your life will be a living nightmare. He screams at the couple kids he hates. I don't know why he even recruited them. I know it's easy to get mad and post a bad review, but I really thought hard about this. Don't let your kid swim at Marymount. Unless they get picked as a favorite, they'll either be completely ignored (I haven't gotten to use any of the fancy stuff he shows off to recruits - NO use of underwater cameras, no power towers, nothing) or they'll be emotionally abused, and convinced that THEY are the problem not him. I watched him tell one swimmer he was a disgrace to the whole team because he was injured and missed an interval. Like what? I am personally glad I fly under the radar, but I have finally decided speaking out is the right thing to do now. I should have spoken up 2 years ago, but I thought covid stress, whatever, and he'd ease up. That never happened. He cannot be trusted with your kids."

"Sadly, this coach is mentally unstable. He has favorites, and for them, this is a great team. But if you're not one of his 2-3 favorites, you live in a very different world. He has cursed at me, called me "reta-----". He punishes you for missing an interval at a practice. He calls you names and bullies and belittles swimmers. The girls team may as well not even exist for all the attention they get. He is foul-mouthed, angry, bullies anyone he doesn't favor, and he is a terrible coach. He didn't win conference because he's a good coach, he won because he's a good recruiter. He recruited some young, fast swimmers -- and NONE of them has gotten faster. He can't control himself. He's unstable, and a danger to this whole team. I am seriously considering giving up the sport of swimming completely because of him. "
