"Doug is a disgrace to South Dakota State Jackrabbit athletics, and especially the swim program. There is a reason the swim team has never won a conference title, and never will until he is replaced. Terrible communicator, same training regiment for four years, picks favorites, shows up late, lies to you, and a lot more! He also let his daughter on the team, who got away with just about everything. If this isn’t a red flag, I don’t know what is. Don’t fall for the salesman he and others are on recruiting trips, don’t judge the book by its cover. Seeing other athletic programs at SDSU succeed except for mine was very underwhelming and disappointing. But it is easy to understand with what transpires on a daily basis at the Marshall Center Pool."

"Lack of care for athletes or the program in general. Shows up 30-45 minutes late for practices and spends most of his time in his office. Provides little to no coaching to athletes and doesn’t take the time to build relationships with athletes. He could care less about work ethic as he allows athletes to skip practices constantly, break NCAA protocol, etc. with no consequences. If you’re fast he’ll let you get away with anything, but if you aren’t the top swimmer in your event he could care less about you. Wish I wouldn’t have spent my 4 years of eligibility as an athlete of his. "
