"All talk, no game. On the surface Joe seems to be on top of all the basic needs to be a successful coach. However, his inability to genuinely connect with his players and coaching staff due to his napoleonic ego has lead to a shell of a team. Refuses to look in a mirror and blames lack of progress on tenured players. Has no experience playing the offensive side of the ball. Skidmore, and Saratoga as a whole, has great possibility to host a solid team but won't happen under him. Wouldn't recommend this program to anyone while Joe is at the helm. - former starter. "

Accessible Intense Cool Direct Poor Communication

"Joe Martin is an amazing recruiter. But what he lacks is relating and connecting to college athletes. There is no mutual respect and he has a constant power trip. He is incapable of giving any kind of responsibility to his assistant coaches and looks at incoming freshman with more confidence then 4 year seniors who have put the work in to be on the team. This explains why Skidmore mens lacrosse is always a young team. His retention rate for players is the horrible and when I decided to leave the team and meet with my coaches, my assistant coach told me he was not allowed to talk during our meeting."
