"I was heavily recruited by Stoia throughout high school, at least 1 call a week for 18 months (at minimum), she had told me I was the "leader" of my class and there was even a horrific situation where one of my teammates who was also an incoming freshman lost her dad in a tragic way. Stoia asked me to be the one to let the rest of our class know (roughly 10 other girls). Meanwhile, I had never met the girl at that point and only knew about the situation based on what Stoia told me and what I had read in articles following her request. Of course I did it because I was not trying to disappoint my new coach at first opportunity, in reflection though, I do feel like that was inappropriate and she just didn't want to have to deal with an awkward scenario altogether because she is awkward like that. Once I got on campus she acted like she didn't know me, it was bizarre. And the other girls in my class who were recruited by her felt the same way, she had no personal connection to developing you, even though the reason you were there was because of her. I have heard rumors that she has been better about that since I left, so that is an improvement. But my advice is just make sure you know who is recruiting you and what REALLY that means once you get to your school. "
