"In my opinion, Michelle is no better than a used car salesman or politician, promises the world during recruiting, very attentive and complimentary and then once you commit, the games begin. She does NOT foster a team atmosphere, rather one of stress and favorites, especially if you have played Mass Elite. There are many who have gone to the AD or higher to complain, but here she is still coaching --- the same issues are taking place as I write this review, and girls (that love the game) are quitting for their own mental health. Babson is a great school with a great education and opportunities; if you have the opportunity to attend, do not play lacrosse as you miss out on so much because of practices, and the amount of times you are "allowed" to miss. Michelle really does not care about your education in the end; if she did she would be more flexible and allow girls to attend speakers or events of interest to them. God forbid if you miss practice over this, it will reflect in your playing time or your position; and then it will be spun somehow to be your fault. Her assistants don't have a spine either, even though they know better and will either text or call you on the side ("receipts"). Coaching takes a mature individual who loves the game and wants what is best for both the girls and the team; this is NOT what you get with Michelle. I wish an alumni had pulled me aside before we committed so that we were aware of how it will be; it is unfortunate we had to find out for ourself. I would highly recommend Babson for an education, but NOT recommend the women's lacrosse program, as you will be HIGHLY disappointed."
"Michelle Smith fundamentally is a good coach: she wins games, recruits great players, and knows the game. Beyond that, she is quite literally one of the most heartless, two faced, vindictive, and inconsistent people I have ever met. Michelle is the type of coach who has favorites- and if you are not one, good luck understanding any of her decisions for the next 4 years of your life. You could get as fast as she wants you to, fix your approach to ball on d, work on your non dominant hand over and over, and she'll still make you feel like nothing will be enough. Lots of body shaming, no cares about how you're doing in the classroom, and no care for your time."
