Poor Communication Disorganized Old School Mentality Dedicated To Players Creates A Great Team Culture
"In my opinion from working at DU the athletic administration and certain coaches are very corrupt but it doesn’t stop there. The vice president is actively just as corrupt as the administrations and coaches. He’s in the back pocket of certain coaches and has a wide presence at athletic events. He has actively covered up multiple athletic scandals, notably the baseball team players running from the police. Although I do think the administration and coaches are some of the most corrupt and self serving people I’ve encountered in college athletics the problem is much higher and it starts with him allowing this behavior to occur. He tries to play the religious preacher card but he might be more corrupt than ALL OF THEM. Beware. "

"Imagine being a SWA. Protecting a male pedo. Covering up his “activities” then wishing him well. Then sending a young female coach to pasture because SHE thought it was wrong and the SWA didn’t. If you’re a normal human being - make that make sense. Insane "

"I’ve been following softball for 35 years. Why don’t we see the massive disease and disappointment that Ronda led last year. She clearly tanked it to get her friend hired and for him to have success right way with previous recruiting but we should see her name RONDA V responsible for the terrible season after beating regional teams in Florida. What an amazing coach. Thought you were like really really good lol what a joke. She rebuilt the culture don’t you know. I hope the low lives at this school win the conference and look at themselves in the mirror. I’ve never seen anything like it in 35 years. Jealousy is a serious disease. Sick program all the way around. Watched her protect her assistant though. Real hard a*s "

How terrible of a place is Davenport? Seriously disgusting what you allowed. Terrible human being. Sick people at DU! Mad bc they can’t continue to do a cheer making fun of people with disabilities. "The problem with Davenport U is that they listen to selfish entitled kids and their parents. The entire administration has kids that go to the school and they pick and choose who to listen to. Entitled, spoiled selfish kids that have no accountability go to this college. You should be held accountable for lying about being abused, lying about underage drinking, lying about drugs, lying about fake IDs, lying about stealing, lying about sleeping with employees, lying about just about everything. But they all got their hand out for more. There is zero accountability at this school and it’s creating toxic adults. Everyone is allergic to hard work at this school but they love getting their pockets greased. Epic fail of any sort of leadership at this school. I’ve had family on both the baseball and men’s basketball teams. They have no accountability. The best players get away with murder and they know and laugh about it. High turn over rate for both. I would not recommend this place at all. I would give -100 if I could. Anyone that goes to this school should have a label of FAILING TO DO THE RIGHT THING. Zero integrity from 98 percent. "

"Not an honest person at all. She’s lied to student athletes on multiple occasions. Davenport relies on scaring athletes into submission. With threats, taking or adding scholarships, etc. A proven method that has worked for the last 15 years. It’s sad to see it’s still occurring. Am I shocked? No, clearly not when Rhonda is involved. "

"Covering up the women’s basketball coach sleeping with a student is a fireable offense alone…… seems like you get 1500 mess ups. I don’t think Ronda will ever be held accountable for all of her wrongdoing. Happy to have watched you tank a team you coached last year. Maybe you’ll coach our women’s soccer team next. Any Aquinas friends you have in mind to take over? You like for everyone else to do the hard, grueling, dirty work then you want to step in to get the spotlight. The DU way! "Habitual manipulator. Manipulating 18-22 year olds easy but Ronda somehow manages to manipulate 25-50 year olds. Even if you watch an event happen-she finds a way to completely make you think of it differently. To completely spin it. It’s wild to watch. As an employee I’ve witnessed this with many student athletes being referred to mental health services by staff or coaches. They go through the channels necessary to do this and then the mental health services reveal who contacted them about these mental health concerns. THAT IS COMPLETELY AGAINST ANY SCHOOL POLICY IVE EVER BEEN A PART OF. It’s negligent. It’s WRONG. It changes and destroys relationships. Ronda laughs it off and blames the person that initially had the concern for the student athlete. Ronda really is a terrible person in a multitude of ways. "

"As an employee that has also been bullied by Ronda and staff I can tell you without a doubt HR tells the executive AD and Ronda all of the complaints about them and then they try and bully you into oblivion. What’s happening in this athletic department is putrid. The executive AD, HR, all turn a blind out to sex scandals, their own bullying and toxicity and the way they misuse funds is fire worthy. They allow felonies to occur every day to protect star players. It’s utterly wild. "

Poor Communication Disorganized Old School Mentality Dedicated To Players Creates A Great Team Culture
"Being at Davenport I can tell you without a doubt this information it’s unfortunately 100 percent true. When I first started at DU, I loved it. People were somewhat welcoming at the beginning and the resources and facilities were above average. Shortly after I thought this was a fairytale I started to see a different side. When I first started at Davenport I was wildly passionate about what I was doing. It set my heart on fire helping people become the best versions of themselves. I was grounded in principles and loved my work. It was my life and I gave and put my heart and soul into it. Then it surfaced that the wbb coach was sleeping with a player. Certainly these actions would have consequences I presumed. I was wrong. This affair for the lack of a better word was kept silent by Ronda, administrators, and the men’s basketball coach. How could this be happening I thought. This relationship continued to the point of the student athlete flaunting about the relationship on social media and how she controlled what was happening in the program. I was disgusted. Why does no one seem to care? Why was this being covered up. Soon after an assistant coach on the wbb team brought this to Ronda’s attention. AGAIN. She was met with excuses for the coaches behavior and Ronda defending him. I verbally heard Ronda say on multiple occasions that this assistant should “KEEP HER MOUTH SHUT” My heart started to race as I didn’t understand why this behavior was being covered up. Soon after I never saw that assistant coach again. She was banished from the university. Shortly after the coaches fiancé got involved emailing many at the school - this was the last straw it seems. Ronda emailed the athletic department thanking this coach for his service. Again, a pit in my stomach started to grow. Was this the standard at this University? Being at Davenport I’ve observed inappropriate relationships with many staff members and student athletes. Coaches and SID’s buying drinks at the bar for student athletes, the baseball coach not just drinking with student athletes but even having a student athlete to his own home and providing alcohol. A facilities worker being in a relationship with the QB on the football team, again Ronda and administrators were all aware of this behavior and it was the gossip that everyone talked about and witnessed with their own eyes. Why did so many people just talk about it? Why weren’t they doing their obligated duty to report these illicit acts that were in clear violation of university policy? Athletic trainers at this university are the gossips of the school. They do not report behavior and go as far as even covering behavior up. A team harassed a female trainer and instead of standing up for this woman she was banished, while male athletic trainers enjoy sharing inappropriate texts with students and going into their rooms on away trips with no supervision or communication. Why is that perceived as normal behavior? The strength and conditioning staff have different standards for male athletes, compared to female athletes and seemingly post this bias on social media. A clear example is Wbb, every team they play have more solid builds and foundations of strength. In many instances more females are being hurt in the weight room as proper technique is an after thought. As a former female track runner and 3 sport athlete this infuriates me. I’ve verbally heard Ronda talk negatively about many employees at Davenport. She bashed the former men’s golf coach and seemingly made fun of the women’s golf coach for “flaunting her gayness” too much. I’ve heard her speak negatively about a former employee, telling many she was sexually assaulted. I’ve also heard her speak negative about many staff members. I’ve watched with my own eyes and ears Ronda and the athletic secretary cover up wrongdoing after wrong doing and then laugh about it. A promotion was in order for that secretary as she is now an assistant athletic director in internal affairs. Believe me many internal affairs are occurring here. Many compliance issues have arose in my time at Davenport. The NCAA should really look into the football program and the clearance of athletes that were ineligible. I’m not sure how in 2 hours athletes can miraculous become eligible so they can play in a game. Davenport bends and twists the rules for favorited programs. It was uncovered that the baseball team played with ineligible players throughout their 2021 season in which they won a championship. The new compliance director that uncovered this information was forced out by administrators and HR because of these findings. After working here and going through scandal after scandal and I’ve only revealed a fraction of wrong doing, I could write a novel…. I had to learn the hard way. I felt an obligation to report this behavior to HR as it was my duty and what I felt was the right thing to do. I can’t tell you how much I regret that decision. Soon after reporting that I thought this behavior was wrong I was TARGETED. I’ve been verbally attacked and bullied to the point of being put on medication. My hair has fallen out, I’ve developed stomach issues and anxiety. Ronda and this athletic department are all complicit. If you don’t fall in line she will get heads of other departments to attack and bully you. I can’t believe the president at Davenport is the highest paid college president in the state of Michigan and he continually allows this corruption to occur. Mostly because he is absent and doesn’t care. I understand this is a small university that many have never heard of but that shouldn’t mean these horrible offenses should be excused. All the headlines have been about UofM being investigated. DU should be next. Administrators, coaches, staff, HR are all in on it. I write this information to not bash anyone, I’m simply telling you mine and others nightmares. No amount of clothes, shoes, equipment , scholarships, hush money, raises can make up for this inexcusable behavior. I doesn’t belong in college athletics or athletics AT ALL. Being still employed at Davenport I fear I will be fired for writing the truth, but I feel someone has to. I’ve never been around such a manipulative group. It hearts my heart for those I’ve seen change over the years to accommodate these actions and behaviors. I fear I’ve even changed as I’m not as upset or appalled as I once was. It really makes you just numb to situations that just aren’t ok. "

"I watched one of my best friends transfer to this school and turn into a completely different person i did not recognize. What this school normalizes isn’t NORMAL. From my observation there’s no accountability for lying, stealing, partying and doing drugs. Athletes here do whatever they want and coaches and administrators allow them to. Sounds awesome if you’re 20 but hope it doesn’t end up ruining your life. Ronda is a bully and uses her power for her employees to bully others. I know many girls on the lacrosse team pleaded for help with their abusive coach and she praised him in their faces. My only guess is she must get dirt on these employees and plays them like puppets. Throwing money at a situation is the only thing these administrators do well and when she can’t control you, you better run. "

"Hired a pedo, covered up all of what was happening. Acted like she didn’t know it was happening- that’s what Ronda does best. Professional liars at Davenport. Then kept it silent while the pedo went to 2 other schools to do god knows what. You would think an AD would have an obligation to protect student athletes. Not this one. I think it sickly makes her feel better about herself being surrounded by people like this. "

"Since you all our so obsessed with the University of Michigan maybe Davenport should launch an investigation into their athletic department. Too many lies and scandals it would be overwhelming. I can’t even imagine how many people would lose their jobs for what they do at this tiny school that no one has ever heard of. It would be a great way to put you guys on the map! ROLL PANTHERS "

"My friend told me some pretty disturbing things that Ronda and many coaches have done/ do at Davenport. All is fine though bc her daughter gets more stuff than most small d1 teams. So basically if you keep your mouth shut and obey your master and watch your master abuse other people but keep your mouth shut all is well bc it’s not happening to you and you get a lot of stuff and maybe even a job I’ve heard. I don’t think that’s teaching very valuable lessons to young people. It amazes me every year how people have no empathy or morals. Everyone has become very selfish and self serving. Integrity doesn’t seem to exist. This seemingly has taught athletes to have no accountability and probably why so many are so entitled. Why work hard when you get everything handed to you for free. You can lie and be rewarded, you can be lazy and be rewarded. I’ve heard people’s parents take classes for their kids and they will change your grade if you call in and complain. Very odd things happening at that school. "

"To all newly hired from Siena Heights: “them coaches making “improper check requests…from Fundraising accounts,” and “improper labeling of expenses as student expenses that were actually for personal use.” You all should fit in absolutely perfectly at Davenport University. Except DU has way more money and way more employees using that money for personal use. If you try and whistleblow at this school they will try and burry you so best to keep your mouth shut! "

"Imagine being a jv volleyball player. Taking pictures for the baseball team. Gaining a full time job that you’re entirely unqualified for because of this relationship. Following instructions by the baseball coach to be disrespectful to the softball coaches. Hiding equipment, wrecking their field. I was in attendance when Michigan State played on their field and they couldn’t even drag the field after because this girl hid the cart. That’s all ok because it turned out this same person was dating the QB on the football team and to keep it quiet this was her assigned task to screw over the softball program and make things harder for their staff. I mean you can’t make this stuff up. Toxic at every level. "

"What happened to the athletic trainer that was getting sexually harassed by the hockey team??? Oh right, she left with no accountability for the hockey players that were doing this. Wonder why? You have really messed up standards and priorities. "

"It’s sad what the athletic administration and other corrupt coaches who have been working at Davenport for a long time are teaching young employees. If this is your first job in athletics - BEWARE. I would assume because you’re in this toxic environment you probably don't see the unethical things as being that bad. Go to a different school and everyone will be STUNNED at what you tell them. Multiple employees have been fired at other institutions for behavior that was NORMALIZED at this institution. How sad is that. With Davenport being their first job they literally thought what they were doing with student athletes was normal. If you’re in your first job at DU and making decent money and turning a blind eye to the behaviors this school tolerates do yourself a favor and STAY at Davenport. Get all the gear, get bought off with STUFF and stay. What you learn is good here by corrupt people won’t be tolerated at 97% of other universities. "
