"How is no one talking about the credit card scamming and the fake ID selling of members of the baseball & football team? Isn’t that a felony to use and I mean worse distribute fake IDs? Let alone the credit card scams. It’s ok that’s a protected sport, right? No one cares about our lacrosse team but hey baseball and men’s basketball get special treatment so much so that everyone looks the other way when felonies are being done. "

Poor Communication Disorganized Old School Mentality Dedicated To Players Creates A Great Team Culture
"I would love to see the game plan that is used and must be taught at AQ about master manipulation. Ronda and other coaches from that school are master manipulators and it honestly is really really effective. It’s actually amazing how well is orchestrated, planned and then executed. Their abilities to not only fool kids but even adults who watched the complete opposite happen with their own eyes and ears. That level of manipulation is professional grade. I did not know the scandal with the women’s basketball program but I did know of the scandals within the softball program stemming from 2019. Ronda had made many comments about wanting to hire the AQ coach but he wasn’t done teaching yet so they had to wait. Fast forward to present day and there yeah go. The path to get him there was very thought out and carried out with precision, manipulation and very obviously a lot of corruption. It’s quite outstanding how perfectly it all worked out. I would pay actual money to take a course on this level of manipulation, rule breaking, corruption and honestly evilness that it takes to live a life this way and get ahead. As for the many employees, I applaud you for surviving the evil and wickedness this institution can hammer on you. If you get on their bad side they will do everything in their power to make your life a living hell and it will attack you at every angle. It is very hard to believe nothing has ever come from all those who go to HR and all those mandatory reporting this abuse of power. Sad but this school really should be studied. "

"Look what is happening at the University of Michigan right now with their football coach. This is an EVERY DAY EVENT AT DAVENPORT UNIVERSITY and it’s COVERED UP by the athletic administrators to protect themselves and their clique of coaches whom have been hired approximately all at the same time. Seniority should make you allergic to accountability or consequences. It does at this school 100 percent. Then they hunt for younger employees to corrupt and tell them this is normal and ok but those kids are finally are making decent money so they go along with it and soon find themselves being just like these toxic bullies. It’s really sad to observe. "

"Think a job is toxic??? Imagine weight gain, heart palpitations, severe anxiety, GI issues, hair falling out and depression. I wasn’t even doing anything wrong or unethical. I was friendly and I kept to myself BUT I reported a sexual relationship between a player and coach and reported that I didn’t think it was ok for a male athletic trainer to be in room with the door closed. What did that get me? Bullied. I was bullied by Ronda, athletic administrators and the athletic training staff for reporting my OBLIGATED DUTY to report. After being out of this toxic atmosphere for 4 years I no longer have any of the issues listed. It’s truly insane how these toxic bullies try and ruin lives. Davenport pays well but IS THAT REALLY WORTH doing the DIRTY work for this athletic administration?"

"The complaints of this administrator and athletic administration are REAL, undeniably UNETHICAL and against any policy I’ve ever seen at any academic institution. What Davenport University is allowing is criminal from both employees and student athletes. They take it to the point of wrecking lives of many student athletes and employees who do the right thing and speak up AND there’s NEVER ANY ACCOUNTABILITY for Ronda or the executive director of athletics. It’s not right what is happening at this school. If this information was released to the news the general public would be SHOCKED on what is being swept under the rug at this small school in west Michigan. "

"As a former high school athletic director I can’t fathom still having my job if I knowingly allowed a predator to date and continue a relationship with an athlete they coached. I can’t fathom still having a job if I tried to cover this up and silence employees. I can’t fathom having a job knowing the student athlete was also not held accountable and seemingly bragged about this behavior and having power to manipulate and control their coach and when they practiced. I can’t fathom having a job and listening to this same student athlete cry wolf about other coaches on a team and sport she never participated in. I can’t fathom this behavior and the blatant cover up of these behaviors at this university. This was covered up by all athletic administrators, the vice president and HR. "

Poor Communication Disorganized Old School Mentality Dedicated To Players Creates A Great Team Culture
"My experience working under this supervisor has been consistently challenging due to several recurring behaviors that negatively affected both my work and the overall environment. She frequently made comments that felt inappropriate or unprofessional, which created discomfort and made it difficult to communicate effectively. Meetings were often canceled with little notice, resulting in delays and a lack of needed guidance. When feedback was given, it was often delivered in a way that felt condescending, even when tasks had been completed correctly, which undermined confidence rather than supporting development. There also appeared to be a strong favoritism dynamic within the department. Certain employees received preferential treatment, while others felt excluded or judged based on personal rather than professional factors. This contributed to a divided, clique-like atmosphere that affected collaboration and morale. Concerns about these behaviors were reported through the appropriate channels by myself and others, but the follow-up process felt ineffective. In some cases, raising concerns appeared to lead to further negative treatment instead of improvement, which made the environment feel even less safe. Overall, these issues significantly impacted my ability to perform my job and feel supported. "

"I brought concerns to HR about Ronda soliciting the entire athletic department to “chip” in to pay for the athletic secretary’s car tires. I felt if I didn’t donate money that I would be retaliated against. As someone who made much less than her I was confused why we were basically forced to buy her tires. Why wasn’t this being asked for others that had a higher need and made much less. It appears to make sense now that this same employee was promoted to be an assistant athletic director. Also, not sure how you go from being a secretary doing the dirty work of Ronda and making sure things are being covered up to being an AD. Hmmm. Doesn’t seem very qualified to hold that position but most people aren’t qualified to do their jobs at DU they are all just friends/favors with resumes that don’t match their job titles. "

"Maybe you all should have talked to your own full time (non coach) employees about the behaviors and concerns they encountered with female student athletes lying and bullying others. Imagine listening to student athletes that cry wolf when MANY full time employees have written documentation of these behavior regarding these athletes. One of the biggest offenders being an athlete related to someone working for the conference. Many of these concerns came from a title 9 coordinator. I didn’t want to believe Ronda was a rotten human being but it all seems to be adding up. How poorly the athletic department conducts business and displays professionalism is award worthy. I no longer have any affiliation with Davenport and work with a small law firm in California. What this university is doing is criminal. They shouldn’t be an NCAA institution. They were caught cheating during their time in NAIA and nothing has changed at this school in that regard. "

"As a former employee at Davenport I can confirm that Ronda knew about the women’s basketball coach having a sexual relationship with a member of the women’s basketball team for over a year. No action to investigate or remove this coach was made. In fact, Ronda silenced those who thought this behavior was wrong and kept letting the relationship happen. How disgusting. Once this became a bigger issue when the coach’s fiancé made it one, they quietly let this coach exit. Ronda then sent a department email thanking the coach for all he did for the program. AGAIN. How DISGUSTING. Davenport is a disgusting place to be and this isn’t one isolated incident. It’s been happening for years with many employees she sweeps under the rug. People like this shouldn’t be in positions of authority. "

"Why are jv players eligibility taken from them when they competed in minimal games against community colleges and NAIA teams?? They played no NCAA competition. Meanwhile baseball players running from police officers and men’s basketball players faking injuries keep all their eligibility and get to red shirt. Makes no sense to me. Shame on you Ronda. You pretended to care but everyone knew what you were saying behind these young women’s backs. You’re really good at running your mouth about everyone at that school. A very unjust school. Adding jv for more money for sports like baseball and hurting student athletes and ruining their lives. Nice work. "

Did you think buying them bagels 3 times would help when you ruined their careers. You’re the admin and you want to hide your wrongdoing and decisions on others. Hope you enjoyed your extra money. "I worked at Davenport just shy of a year. During my time at Davenport I went to a training it was called Blue Envelope Training. This was put on by Corewell heath. It was revealed to employee’s the statistics of Davenport students and student athletes regarding mental health. I was beyond shocked when those statistics indicated almost everyone at DU declines mentally once stepping on campus. The numbers were absolutely disturbing how many students indicated feeling anxious, depressed, had suicidal thoughts and how many struggled with mental health issues. A major DECLINE in mental health by just being at Davenport was revealed. As I mentioned before I worked here for under a year partially due to this training. They should do statistics on employees next because I encountered bullying, was put under immense stress and had severe anxiety working here. It’s sad that a training that was supposed to be helpful really only indicated and revealed how terrible of an institution Davenport really is. A major lack of leadership on all levels from the president to athletic administration are to blame in my opinion. "

"I think right now would be the perfect time to add JV to the women’s basketball program. Don’t you think? This would be the idiotic leadership decisions you make. How much worse would this program be if you added another team????? I bet at 0-5 many more complaints would be filled and more people would transfer. Set people up for failure- that’s what you all are best at!!!!!! Logical decisions you all make! "

"I played womens basketball at DU for a Hall of Fame coach that now coaches at GVSU. Let’s talk about how far this program has fallen to the ground. We made it to the National Championship game finishing as runners up. Consistently won titles and had extremely successful seasons. Now the standard is letting head coaches sleep with players and letting it slide. Trying to silence any coach or player that thought it was wrong. Fast forward to now unsuccessful season after unsuccessful season after unsuccessful season with a coach that consistently has recruiting violations. Probably the best team on campus now turned into one of the worst. It’s hard to not think this all doesn’t start from having terrible leadership in administration. Ronda was a terrible coach with what she allowed her players to do and get away with. She had no problem with you smoking pot before a game if you were an All American. Great messaging to 18-22 year olds. The administration and their lack of control, support and morals is a joke. That’s where the huge problem lies. Davenport is a circus and what they allow puts students in danger both mentally and physically. I’m so glad I had a coach with strong character and morals. Glad he got out. "

Poor Communication Disorganized Old School Mentality Dedicated To Players Creates A Great Team Culture
"Ronda and her assistants were abusive coaches when they coached me 16 years ago. Our entire team smoked pot and partied regularly. Her rules and standards catered to the better players on the team. The news literally wrote articles about how “intense” Ronda’s coaching style was. That’s a nice way of putting that she was mentally and emotionally draining to many of us. She screamed at me and many of my teammates and said a lot of unprofessional things I didn’t think a coach should say. Being older and having children I realize the environment I was playing in was very toxic. She catered to players that were on the verge of being ineligible, that partied every day and night but helped us win so that was no big deal. She was very negative and demeaning when a player made a mistake. It’s hard to believe she is now an Athletic Director. She cheated continually so I’m sure she has been doing the same if not more in an advanced role. I pray for all the student athletes that have to be around her. I would assume a higher position of power has led to an even bigger ego, which I’m not sure is possible. She is very manipulative at her core and I hope no one has to go through the hell she will put you through if you find yourself on her bad side."

"The athletic department at Davenport is full of horrible people. If you’re a good person that has morals DO NOT WORK HERE. You will undercover some disgusting, ABUSIVE, messed up, unprofessional behavior and if you try and do anything about it - THEY will TEAM UP AGAINST YOU AND TRY AND PUSH YOU OUT. If you can stand up to their bullying they will literally make up false narratives and stories about you and try and ruin your career. This happened to me 10 years ago and it’s CONTINUED to happen to coaches that have worked here. The entire administration is beyond corrupt. That’s wrong in itself. It’s a popularity contest at this school that ALLOWS employees to sleep with student athletes but if you’re a favorite THEY COVER IT UP. Seriously STAY away unless you’re already their friend. "

Poor Communication Disorganized Old School Mentality Dedicated To Players Creates A Great Team Culture
"I worked at Davenport University for one season. During that time, I reported concerns to Ronda regarding abusive behavior by Travis and an inappropriate relationship that was occurring. The concerns were from others reported to me, so I, as a mandatory reporter, reported them. I raised these concerns multiple times to Ronda and Paul. All I asked was that an investigation could take place to either confirm it or refute it, and then we could move forward. Also, it is to note that Ronda knew Travis from before and that there was a history where Travis was coaching the player in high school, was reported for being inappropriate, he was removed and Ronda knew about the high school issue when hiring. Around Christmas, I informed them that I would resign because I did not want to be a part of this or have my name associated with him, as it was too much. He was making my job and the overall environment horrible to be in, as he knew I had reported him. They asked me to remain in the role, and I did end up staying because it was clear that no one would be there to try and protect the student-athletes as best as I could and make it as good an environment as possible. During one conversation, Rhonda asked, “What if it were your brother?” in reference to the accused staff member. I responded that I would want any family member held accountable and the situation addressed appropriately. I wish I had said more because that was an inappropriate question. I also asked the AD, whose daughter played lacrosse years back, if he would trust this person coaching his daughter, and he could not provide a solid answer. At the end of the season, additional emails from others were submitted detailing the same inappropriate relationship to multiple Davenport administrators. Instead of conducting a full investigation, the university chose not to renew the head coach’s contract. They also told the players they could not talk about it or else. He was subsequently hired at Hillsdale a few years later. Once Hillsdale was alerted to the concerns via a Twitter post going viral about the coach, they conducted a formal investigation, confirmed it, and removed him. When Davenport non-renewed the head coach, I was told I was not "eligible" to apply for the open position. I continued assisting with team operations until a new coach was hired. After that point, communication from the department stopped. I was no longer informed of workouts, when to even meet my new boss, what work to do, or when meetings would be, and I was effectively removed from ongoing responsibilities as they were pushing me out, although they asked for all of my documents, scouts, scheduling, recruiting contacts, and more. I decided to leave rather than try to stay in a toxic workplace. As soon as I quit, the other assistants were removed. I am an alum of DU and the WBB team, so was another AC. Shonda would not reply to texts about work at all or to meet until after I quit, which I am assuming was an order from Ronda because they could not fire me since I was the one who reported it. Davenport has the potential to be a strong program, but leadership failed to address significant concerns, which negatively impacted both student-athletes and staff members who attempted to act in their best interest. It is wild that she is the SWA and Title IX Coordinator. She never reported the reports I made or the documentation provided by players, MBB players who reported it to Burt and were told to be quiet about it, and more. The mistake I made was trusting the leadership to do what they are and were mandated to do. This is not even half of what happened."
