Honestly, they should do a documentary on this story. It’s insane. You shouldn’t be an administrator if you think you’re cool because you’re getting attention from 18-22 year olds. Is it because her son falls in the same age group at the school? Honestly, insane story! I would stay away from Davenport University. "

"As a travel ball coach and a parent it’s disgusting Ronda Varnesdeel threatened to take away the athletic scholarships of the players at DU if they didn’t get on the bus and play. THE biggest bully at Davenport University is this woman and she’s sadly in charge. I will not be sending my recruits to this school any longer. It’s disturbing the behavior they allow at this school. If you do things the right way they will run you out. Not a place for anyone serious about being a good athlete or person."
"What is Ronda going to coach next? She pushed out the men’s golf coach at Davenport- a D1- professional golfer. She was a strong FEMALE, and didn’t let Ronda push her around. Ronda hates that the most. People that stand up to her bullying. Confident women who were actually good at the sport they are coaching. She did the same thing to the softball coaches, who literally didn’t do anything wrong. Is this Burt’s- the men’s basketball coach fate next? Probably not because he is male. That will be the only way her son sees playing time though so never say never. It shouldn’t be allowed for her to coach, she’s a terrible role model. ALWAYS HAS BEEN. "
"Not an appropriate person or coach. Add in a title of administrator and Ronda is as toxic as it gets. She doesn’t want to deal with any problems going on in the athletic program so she tries to silence people by being a bully. I know for a fact Jackie Barley turned her down as a player and she’s had some strange infatuation with that kid ever since. I’m sure being a professional coach was a major turn off for her. People really are disgusting. The amount of things ronda has been able to get away with in her time at DU is staggering. The entire athletic department should be put on investigation. "
"Only took a couple weeks to tank the team’s batting average and defense. They were a pretty sound defensive group when I watched them in Florida- now making a lot of errors. Great job coach, I feel sorry for the athletes that are forced to be around you. You don’t make any one better. Their baserunning also looks much worse. You told my daughter in the fall you were all about the details. Doesn’t seem like it. "

"Ronda likes to drink at the local bar of ours in Hopkins. She drives home drunk quite frequently. I didn’t even know she was a school administrator. "
"Rhonda knows her assistant AD had an inappropriate relationship with a senior outfielder and now they aren’t recording errors and cheating stats. Will my niece get this same treatment? What does she have to do have an inappropriate relationship with him? Will he then feature her in all of the social media posts? Troubling reoccurrences at this University. "

"Being a coach in conference it’s appalling and disgusting that Davenport University has allowed Ronda to take over a program that two great coaches spent their heart and soul building. Truly sickening and a tragedy to college athletics. My heart goes out to the student athletes persevering through this hard time. "
"I’ve overheard Rhonda talk bad about her players. For an AD she comes across as frumpy and scrubby. Mean lady with a dirty mouth. Has had a bad reputation in the Grand Rapids area since she was in high school. "
"I’ve never seen such an insecure, weak minded coach. Everything is about her and her ego not the team. Tearing people down, especially if you’re “female” is this one’s specialty. Out of touch with coaching and basic fundamentals of the game. The comments she makes are snarky and mean. She will belittle you any chance she gets and I think that’s what fills her small, black heart with joy. Davenport University has allowed this woman to run a mockery of the athletic department. Not a good role model for female athletes. If you send your daughter here she will most likely try and set her up with her son. My daughter is on the team and that’s one of the first comments she heard this woman make. Not professional. "
"A truly terrible woman, softball coach and mentor. Claimed to be a mentor for a few student athletes to use them and attempt to be cool. Feel sorry for all the poor girls she’s trashed on JV & Varsity. As a parent this fall I not only heard her scream from the sidelines but watched her yell at a kid so bad she started crying. What a great representative of Davenport. "
