"Was not impressed with Spence from the first time we met him. Said things that the average soccer parent would know is BS but our daughter decided this was where our daughter wanted to go despite being recruited by other larger schools. But the more concerning issue is once our daughter arrived, there was next to zero emotional support from him or his staff towards our daughter or any of the players and when those concerns were brought to his attention by the players, he blamed them for the issues and took no responsibility (according to other parents). Used only negative reinforcement to try and motivate players and as a result has had multiple players quit and/or transfer to other schools after the fall session. IMO he needs more experience coaching female players at the club level before being a Women's college level coach. Also, not sure he understands the women's game. We were hoping for more considering he was "LSC Coach of the Year" but wondering if it was because of the female assistant that left to take a HC position. Buyer beware."
