"Samantha or “Coach Sammi” should quit coaching in college after this year. She took on the head coaching job this year after the head coach who she assisted for years was fired. She did not take on the head coaching spot to turn the program around, rebuild a healthier environment, or help players achieve their goals. She did it for her resume and a check. She does not care about players. Maybe a few select players, but never all. I’ll never forget when she cussed me out after a game in front of my entire team for trying to give a fellow teammate hitting advice that they asked me for as a friend and teammate. She was insecure and found this to be “overstepping” her as a coach. It is normally encouraged that teammates help one another, especially when your teammate asks for your help or opinion. Mind you, I am a state champion pitcher who also pitched 140+ innings my freshman year at Dominican, and all of my current and past teammates will vouch for my character. She is unprofessional in almost every aspect that a coach can be. She is not committed to her job, as she spends more time dedicated to her younger teams while the college team she “leads” is currently getting mercy ruled game after game losing every conference game except one so far this season and most likely won’t even qualify for the playoffs for the first time in years. She can put the blame on others, but she is a major factor. She asks her players to record themselves training and send them to her so she can critique them but doesn’t even follow through. Her lack of commitment and professionalism show in the results and in the way her former players will tell you about her. She should not be in this coaching position but dominican does not care enough to recruit a real coach. A coach that does not curse out players, shows up to practice, doesn’t sleep in and leave her team waiting for her from 6am-9am, and one that cares about treating ALL of her players with respect and dignity.
