"It’s not possible to fully emphasize what a nightmare it was to have Tim O’Donahue as a coach. He took his paranoias, superstitions, failures and coaching ineptness out on us on a daily basis. On whims, to perversely suggest he’s all powerful, Tim O’Donohue placed phone calls to our parents. He didn’t schedule appointments. He called parents anytime day or night to berate them over the phone and threaten to harm their kids’ soccer and military futures. Players that reach the D1 level have had many coaches over the years and we all would say only Tim O’Donohue displayed this degree of abuse to players and unsuspecting parents alike. Daily he called us together so he could single out a player to berate infront of all. He regularly went on foul-mouthed rampages. Fearing his job was on the line, during the 2025 season he verbally assaulted even his “favorite” players blaming them for his lack of success and screaming vulgarities and calling players names not fit for anyone to hear. With Tim O’Donohue’s Dismissal from navy mns soccer the future is bright for current and future players. But unfortunately, all of us who had to endure four years playing for this miserable soil, our college soccer experience was tarnished by a man devoid of self-control, decency, character or a moral compass. "
"Benefits from being a service academy coach for at a “normal” college 50% of the roster would transfer out. The treatment of players and man management is one expletive short of straight up abuse. The unanimous opinion from starters and the don’t-ever-play squad alike was always the same for 8+ years… “he’s a terrible coach”. Players regress under him. Rides the high crest of being a good coach at D2 level ten years ago into the fading sunset in That’s All He Talks About land. At times struggles to form complete sentences and make eye contact. Woefully inept to handle being the coach of future leaders, he succeeds in concession only by inspiring others to NOT be like him. "
"Tim O’Donohue is an exceptionally horrible person and was fired for player and parent abuse as much as he was fired for consecutive losing seasons as Navy men’s soccer coach. There are few coaches and people as terrible and two faced as Tim O’Donhue. Listening to him ramble at the year end banquets was like listening to a drunk, narcissist brag about himself. Players past and present celebrated when the truth about his character deprivation was reported and his position terminated. Tim stacked Navy’s non Patriot League schedule with weak teams so he could get some wins on record. Didn’t have even one league win in 2025 and finished dead last in the Patriot league in 2025 with demoralized players who couldn’t wait (like most previous players) to get away from despicable Tim O’Donohue. Also didn’t make playoffs in a weak Patriot league league in 2024. Lost to army 4-0 in 2025. Lost to army in 2024 when Army’s only win that season was against Navy. The stories of Tim’s abuses toward many are rampant and were kept under wrap far too long because he threatened to retaliate. The truth was revealed and he is gone from Navy at last! "
"He may seem calm and well-centered at first but don’t be fooled. This coach is two-faced, abusive, vindictive, and completely unqualified. He has no clue about the sport he coaches, like a Ted Lasso, but abusive and vindictive instead of kind and inspiring. He threatens and intimidates rather than teaches, showing behavior that betrays the Naval Academy values. The disappointment with the soccer program is overwhelming, and he is widely despised by players and parents alike."
