"Mahesh was alright. He's kind of flighty and word vomits. Asks you a question and lets you say one word then does most the talking himself. Many people on my team at the time really liked him but those were only the 4 year people who didn't know any better. I was a transfer student and the woman's running program made myself and the freshman report our grades.. which I found very odd and reminded me of what the delinquent student athletes had to do at my high school if their grades weren't up to par. The team atmosphere was very dry and fake as well and to this day I can't quite put my finger on if it was how the coach created the atmosphere, the type of people that went to the school, or both. Coming from my high school and community college running experiences to North Central and having Mahesh as my coach was unfortunately a downgrade. I came into the program as a top runner and by the end of the season I was depressed and ran races slower than I had in years. I'll never forget during indoor season when he put me in whatever race it was at the time and his reasoning was "to give you some racing experience"... again undermining me as if I haven't been competing since the 5th grade.
Mahesh is a nice guy and I'm sure he means well and he did put in effort to talk to everyone individually but I think he still has room to grow and understand human psychology. His workouts were fine as well. It's the team culture for me that looking back at now, has a big impact on one's experience. Others may disagree but for me North Central woman's running program's culture is not the best. This also includes coach Kari to some effect as she's head of woman's Track and field."
