"Mahesh was alright. He's kind of flighty and word vomits. Asks you a question and lets you say one word then does most the talking himself. Many people on my team at the time really liked him but those were only the 4 year people who didn't know any better. I was a transfer student and the woman's running program made myself and the freshman report our grades.. which I found very odd and reminded me of what the delinquent student athletes had to do at my high school if their grades weren't up to par. The team atmosphere was very dry and fake as well and to this day I can't quite put my finger on if it was how the coach created the atmosphere, the type of people that went to the school, or both. Coming from my high school and community college running experiences to North Central and having Mahesh as my coach was unfortunately a downgrade. I came into the program as a top runner and by the end of the season I was depressed and ran races slower than I had in years. I'll never forget during indoor season when he put me in whatever race it was at the time and his reasoning was "to give you some racing experience"... again undermining me as if I haven't been competing since the 5th grade.
Mahesh is a nice guy and I'm sure he means well and he did put in effort to talk to everyone individually but I think he still has room to grow and understand human psychology. His workouts were fine as well. It's the team culture for me that looking back at now, has a big impact on one's experience. Others may disagree but for me North Central woman's running program's culture is not the best. This also includes coach Kari to some effect as she's head of woman's Track and field."
"I have seen coach work with 8 year olds and 24 year olds. Farrell wants the best for all around him and will push you to think outside the box to pursue greatness "
"She’s hands down, one of the coolest coaches I’ve known for wrestling. A high level wrestler that’s humble about it. Always willing to go in after practices to watch videos and/or practice technique, and you always leave motivated, in a good mood, and having learnt a thing or two. Clear feedback, honest with what you need to work on, and always has high expectations and is willing to help you reach them. She can get a little off topic but she always reels it back into focus. I truly believe her passion in wrestling extends into helping her athletes and I’m great-full for that. Never take a coach like Amanda for granted!"
"Al is by far the greatest coach I have ever had the opportunity to compete and train under. His philosophy of Run for Fun and Personal bests has brought over 30 national titles to NCC"
"Was going to bowl at north Central but the coach is very inexperienced and doesn’t know much of anything about bowling. Seemed like a really nice guy but definitely not going to receive coaching from him"
"Although my coach is a great person overall, she is not the ideal coach due to her lack of intensity and motivation during work outs. She often lets her athletes get out of workouts if there is a minor issue and overall the coaching just isn't there. She is a very sweet and determined person."
"Sinnott was the freshman coach when I was at NCC. He was caring, cultivated an identity amongst the freshman, instilled the standard for excellence that NCC has for its XC/TF teams, and created a foundation for our group to build success on. While Al is the greatest coach of all time and there is no "replacing" him, Sinnott taking the helm for Al maintains the cultural foundation that Al spent 50+ years building while still allowing Sinnott to coach the current team in his own way. I have only been impressed with the testimonies from his current athletes and I am so proud of the direction that the program is going. Happy to be an alumni and to have had the opportunity to work with two amazing great coaches in Al and Sinnott!"
