"Coach Gilardi has about 8 players on his Stony Brook team that he loves and would die for, the other 35-or-so he would trade for a bag of doughnuts. If a player is experiencing any type of struggle, whether that’s grades, mental health or both, he won’t hesitate to call you into his office and ream you out for impacting the team negatively. Rather than try to find out what’s going on and devise a plan to help his players grow, he will tell said player to “figure it the f*** out or he’ll cut you”. Those are the exact words he relayed to me. Don’t play lacrosse at SBU, boys. "
