"As I read through these reviews, I think that it is important to keep in mind which level you are looking to have him as a coach for. Club, you will be around him a few times a week and there is limited access to all areas of a players life. College, a coaches reach, is much greater. They have the ability to affect many more aspects of your life. A life with (in my experience) much more demanding schedule, academics, and time commitment. He cares a lot about getting results but not much about the impact he has along the way. He is hot and cold so you’re never sure how he will act from day to day. While everyone is entitled to have bad days, he lets external factors impact how he treats people. It’s added stress to figure out if you have to tip toe around him for unknown reasons. On those bad days, he has a tendency to become “threatening” in his attempts to push players. Although, this is when I find him to be the most honest about what he thinks of you. When in a good mood and these issues are brought up with him, he’s very good at making players feel heard. Making when feels like steps in the right direction; until the next bad day roles around and nothing has changed. That aside, he knows the game well. He has good strategies that he wants to be second nature to his players. That can be very helpful when change is needed mid game and it can’t wait until there’s a break in play. Personally, I did not find that there was enough balance between being knowledgeable and a good person to deem him a good coach. Players look for different things in coaches and he was just not the right fit for me. "
