"A website that allows reviews with no sort of checking into if they are legitimate is sad. In 2020 The program looked like it was going to be cut. No coach was named after a previous coach was let go. Covid happened, and there was a lot of uncertainty for what would happen ahead. Coach Carlini worked at far below the appropriate compensation , and in doing so promised many alumni that his main goal was to not let the program die, and to build a team we could all be proud of. He brought in countless students, to a program that had not seen recruiting numbers like that in a decade. He reorganized the schedule to make NCIS reputable again, when it had not been for years. He moved in a different direction to align us with competition that met our team, as opposed to getting blown out every year against programs had no business facing. It is disheartening to read some of these disgusting comments. As an alumni of this team ( like coach Carlini is), I can first hand say that Coach wanted to his athletes to be the best versions of themselves. Making up accusations and posting them anonymously is disgusting. "

It is disheartening to read some of these disgusting comments. As an alumni of this team ( like coach Carlini is), I can first hand say that Coach wanted to his athletes to be the best versions of themselves. He prioritized academics, on a team where that was lacking. I can keep going on about the positives that Coach had done for the team, but it is important to first address negative reviews such as the ones below. It is a shame it is so hard to hold people accountable for their disgusting comments and attack on a character of a person who was such an integral part of getting you to the school in the first place. There is a difference between disliking a method or something someone has said or done, and calling it traumatizing. If coach Carlini " traumatized" you, you do not have any characteristics of a reputable student athlete. In other words, you are soft., and will likely find limited success in life, being this easily " traumatized". Furthermore, spreading rumors of inappropriate relationships that are absolutely not true is disgusting. Never did Coach promote drinking, or hang out with the team in any outside fashion was inappropriate. I could only hope my child has someone as dedicated to coaching and his team as Coach Carlini. "

"Chris is a friend/coach meaning he doesn’t know the balance between the two and wants to be more of a friend. He crosses the line of friendship with the female swimmers if you get my drift.. He is immature, and only think of the team as a whole instead of the individual swimmer to the detriment of any swimmer even when it hurts their health in the worst way. Knowing what my son went through with him I would never want another child to be under him as a swimmer. "

"This coach put my child' physical health at risk. He is irresponsible and shouldn't be in in charge os this team of young adults. He is more concerned with his team stats than the health and wellness of his swimmers. He is also verbally abusive, picks favorites and is rumored to date the female captains of the team. Stay far away from Potsdam.swimming and this coach, I am currently in preparing an communication to send to the Chancellor of Suny detailing why this man shouldn't work with this team. horrible. 0 stars"

"“Coach” Chris Carlini is unprofessional on multiple levels. Chris questions his swimmers credibility, becomes involved in their personal lives, often picks favorites and does not show much attention to his others, does not deal with issues amongst his athletes, belittles his swimmers, often speaks negatively on his swimmers to the other teammates, and questions/challenges their medical diagnosis as well as medications. He is the reason that myself and a few others will never swim for a team again, if i could give 0 stars i would have. "

"During my time as a swimmer with Chris as a head coach, I was forced as a captain to make choices and decisions that should have been dealt with by him. I was placed into scenarios where other teammates judged me based on things I was forced to do and he allowed teammates to spread unacceptable hatred towards those who had differing opinions. At the time, I was unaware that this was a mentally abusive relationship where only he benefited. Now being far removed from the coach and the team dynamics, I have come to see the emotional distress that the environment that Chris created had on me. As long as he is a coach, I will highly recommend that no swimmer should be trusted under his care. There are multiple other forms of examples of Chris creating an unsafe environment from other swimmers that involve medical negligence. "

"He traumatized me and made me hate the sport I did all my life. Loves to play favorites, VERY VERY VERY IMMATURE. I am 6 years younger than him and more mature than him. Little to no accountability for the top swimmers on his team and promotes underage drinking. Has described potential swimmers as “duds” because they weren’t a partier and weren’t the best swimmers on their team in high school. GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT POTSDAM!!!! Chris Carlini is a child. "
