"Coach Kcholi helped me become an athlete I can truly be proud of. She shows up for her athletes every single day and is always there when we need her. Her training brings out the best in you, building athleticism, strength, endurance, and mental toughness. Coach K believed in me before I believed in myself. I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to run for a coach like Coach Kcholi. "
"She made my college experience better in every way. From the track to the team culture. I’m so thankful for the chance to run for her and for the support she provided throughout my journey!"
"Coach K was instrumental in my development as a runner during her time at ENMU. Under her guidance, I saw significant performance improvements in both cross country and track. Beyond the stats, she fostered an incredible team culture and built genuine, lasting relationships with her athletes—it's no surprise she's a frequent guest at so many of our weddings! I’m incredibly grateful for the impact she had on my athletic career and personal growth."
"After all the time and effort I’ve dedicated to this program, I’m providing the honest assessment I wish I had seen as a recruit. This coach is defined by three core failures: a complete lack of genuine coaching, staggering disorganization, and a toxic culture that punishes hard work and rewards only natural talent.
The head coach fosters an environment of fear and retribution. If you dared to speak up with a concern or question about the program, you were not met with dialogue, but what felt like bullying and retaliation. This created a climate where athletes were afraid to be honest about their struggles. Furthermore, she openly plays favorites, skewed towards a pattern of those who are more naturally talented and/or charismatic. If you are a “workhorse” who relies on dedication and grit, you are largely ignored and made to feel less than. This divisive and demoralizing practice kills team morale and shows a profound lack of leadership.
There also is constant disengagement from her end. Almost always late to practice when the athletes are expected to be on time, and rarely available in her office. When you ask for strategic advice, her default is a dismissive “do what you feel is best” which is a clear admission she has no input to offer. It was an open secret to the team that her husband, who holds no official position, was the one writing the workouts. Any attempt to have a constructive conversation about the program’s clear flaws was met with defensiveness and negativity.
The program is also cripplingly disorganized. Planning for meets and travel was constantly haphazard, creating unnecessary stress and reinforcing the feeling that we were an afterthought. This is not a professional operation.
My growth as a runner happened in spite of this environment, not because of it. I stayed because the men’s team has a great culture, and for my degree. If you are a passionate runner, whether you’re talented or a hard worker, who is looking for a coach who will invest in you, believe in you, and provide a positive, structured environment, I implore you to look elsewhere. This program’s leadership will break your spirit long before it ever helps you break a pr. "
"Not really the coach I thought she was. Initially, I was recruited to run for UTD XC/Track starting in the fall 2020 semester and she seemed very nice and understanding of me and my running injuries, but just 1 year into my tenure at UT Dallas, I suffered a knee injury and she told me that my injury was fake and that I need to know the difference between pain and serious pain like what do you mean? She then got mad at me for missing just 1 day off practice because of a Calculus quiz, so she kicked me off the team for that without even understanding what I was going through. Definitely would not recommend this coach to anyone aspiring to run in college...."
