Believes In You Creates A Great Team Culture Knowledgeable Intense Poor Communication
"Players beware: If you are injured during a season, you will be cast aside and cut from the roster. Injured players are treated like bottom feeders, and the staff does not go out of their way to help them rehab. There are reasons why two coaches and numerous players have left in the two years Devin has been the Head Coach. He's so desperate for players that the majority of his recruits are on their second and third schools. Devin has zero empathy for anyone except himself and his fake image. Has anyone ever wondered why, after YEARS, the players' benches were moved to the other side of the field? Out of the view of ESPN cameras and out of earshot of the fans? Or why has he left so many schools? He can play the victim card all he wants, but he cannot hide from the truth."

Believes In You Creates A Great Team Culture Knowledgeable Intense Poor Communication
"Hi Devin, I know you're reading this as you continue to write more positive reviews about yourself to cover your tracks from the past. To anyone actually considering this coach, do your research. The glowing reviews don't reflect the experience many players have had. This is an environment where players were made to feel small, concerns were dismissed, and the focus was more on appearance and reputation management than actual player development. Favoritism, broken promises, and zero real development, if you aren't his favorite, you are invisible. When your first instinct is to cover up your past instead of owning it. That's not a coach, that's a liability and a guilty conscience. Trust what the critical reviews have to say. We have no reason to lie, but he does. "

"Coach Devin often communicated in ways that felt misleading, telling players what they wanted to hear rather than being direct and honest, making it difficult to trust the feedback or expectations within the program. There also appeared to be clear favoritism between players who consistently played and those who came off the bench, and if you were not considered one of the favorites, interactions often felt dismissive and unequal regardless of effort or attitude. From a development standpoint, many players felt they did not improve much under the coaching staff because practices frequently lacked intensity, structure, and meaningful instruction, with some training sessions feeling very unproductive overall. There were also many promises made regarding player development, opportunities, team culture, and other aspects of the program that were never truly followed through on, which negatively affected morale and trust throughout the team. Overall, the environment often felt inconsistent, unfair, and lacking accountability, leaving many players feeling overlooked and unsupported."

"In my experience, Coach Devin was very difficult to work with. I felt like he was overly controlling and wanted everything done exactly his way, which made the environment stressful instead of supportive. It also seemed suspicious to me that whenever a negative review appeared, several positive reviews would suddenly show up right after. I just noticed an athlete said “Playing for Coach Devin kills your love for soccer” And only ten minutes later Three positive reviews roll in same day saying “Coach Devin Brought my love back for the game” Isn't that suspicious? Coach Devin is a lying fraud and a manipulator I think be should be stripped from his job."

"Playing for Coach Zvosec is the best way I can think of killing any love you have for soccer. He is dishonest, plays favorites to the detriment of team cohesiveness, and is only concerned with puffing up stats to feed his ego. If you can avoid playing for him you should. One thing he is extremely good at is recruiting and telling you everything you want to hear only to pull the rug out after arriving. "

"Coach Devin is a coach who genuinely cares about his players, on and off the field. His passion for coaching and soccer knowledge is evident from the success achieved in two years. A positive team culture was also noticeable in watching Coach’s interactions with the team. He believes in hard work, dedication, and is willing to reward these athletes with playing time. He also leads by example in his passion for coaching and all duties related to it. Players showed remarkable growth throughout the season, an indication of his coaching ability and high standards. He truly is a coach who loves his job and wants the players to have success on the field, but most importantly in developing skills to help them after college. However, most significant is his positive attitude which leads to a better experience for the athletes. "

"There has been clear positive growth in the coach's second year. You can see that Devin has created a positive environment and implemented a strong team culture. He has begun to turn the program around and seems to be a knowledgeable coach who genuinely cares about his players and staff, and gives 100 percent effort. You can tell he firmly believes that players should earn their minutes through hard work and consistently preaches that standard. It has been rewarding to watch the team continue to grow and thrive."

"I am a current player at Oakland, but due to possible retaliation, I will not reveal my year or position. During the recruiting process, I viewed 2adays and found this page. The inconsistency in coaching, favoritism, and backstabbing by other players is alarming. The Coach has zero compassion for his players and has no interest in development. He is intimidated by anyone who is an independent thinker. You are a Coach at Oakland, not Stanford. Your transfers are on their second or third school for a reason. You are never going to be a power school. You are a commuter school. Get over yourself and COACH! The AD and staff be ashamed of themselves for allowing this sociopath to work with anyone. "

"I am deeply disappointed with what has transpired with the women’s soccer team this year. The university clearly made a bad hire. Coach Devin is the furthest thing from a coach or leader. Leaders are people who earn trust and respect by caring about people, committing to their success and being confidential. Devin is not an honest person. He created division by talking about players behind their backs with other players, including discussing players scholarships and financial situation. If you did not gossip with him. You received the silent treatment and loss of playing time. If you went to Devin for feedback, he acted as if you were bothering him. Many times he was caught being dishonest with the things he would say. Devin consistently berated and threatened the players . Many players took their concerns to the administrators to share the hostile environment and the great stress and anxiety Devin was causing. Instead of investigating, the University dismissed the girl’s concerns. Even worse, the university then allowed Devin to retaliate against the girls. I recommend the University review the law about anti-harassment. Devin is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I don’t wish this environment on any student athlete. If you are considering OU, you may want to look elsewhere. "

Believes In You Creates A Great Team Culture Knowledgeable Intense Poor Communication
"I’m sharing my experience this season with the Oakland Women’s Soccer team in the hope that it may provide a clear insight to the awful season myself and many of my teammates had to endure. I entered the season with optimism, especially with the appointment of a new head coach, which we hoped would bring positive change. Unfortunately, the reality over the past months has been very disappointing. While the coach initially presented himself as confident and committed to the team’s success, his approach quickly revealed arrogance, inconsistencies, and favoritism. For instance, his standards for fitness and performance frequently shifted, leaving players feeling uncertain and demoralized. Although he established a group of so-called leaders on the team, they became invisible shortly after the season began, and he instead started selectively engaging with only certain players. He would speak to ONLY these players after practicing or matches for up to hours sometimes. This selective approach created a visible divide within the team, as some players received preferential treatment while others faced harsher standards. He would ask individuals on the team to meet and then ask them to gossip about their own teammates and talk about who they believed were "good" players or "bad" players. Not only that, he also would ask players if they believed certain teammates should stay on the team or not. This is incredibly inappropriate in my opinion and also puts these players in horrible situations. If the individuals he asked did not respond by feeding into the drama and gossip or talking down on their teammates he grew stale in communication and the individuals stopped getting consistent minutes as a punishment. The coach’s actions often undermined team cohesion, encouraging cliques within the team and using divisive comments that threatened to replace current players with new ones. These behaviors have negatively affected team morale and made daily practices stressful, resulting in a loss of enjoyment for many players. His lack of support for individual players and failure to foster a positive and inclusive environment have created an atmosphere that feels discouraging and, at times, hostile. Throughout the season, the coach frequently threatened to replace the entire team with "new players who are better and more committed," repeatedly suggesting that no one on the current roster was performing well enough. He seemed to care more about drama and puppeteering his favorites within the team rather than keeping the family like culture instilled before he got to Oakland. While he claimed "his door was always open" if you ever did go to him to meet or ask for feedback he would speak to you in a tone and carry a demeanor as if you are a huge inconvenience bothering him and wasting his time. If 0 stars was a choice I would have given none. It is no coincidence that there are so many poor and concerning reviews. This coach is not a good person nor does he care about you. He will not make an effort to get to know you as a person outside of soccer. He will not make any efforts to engage with the families of his players creating even further separation between players, the team, and their families. If you are a parent of a prospective recruit I truly don't wish that experience on you or your child, please strongly consider this before choosing Oakland. He will try to profit off your success to make himself look better. No player deserves to be treated as a business transition and that is all you will ever be to this coach. Steer clear of this program under this coach. "
