"Please note that my only interaction was meeting Coach Aldrich in person when we toured the college and wanted to learn more about his coaching style and how he ran the program for Track & Field. Aldrich took the time to share and answer any of our questions. He spoke about having good amount of years of coaching high level Athletes who went on to compete in the Olympics. It was off putting to me as he came across to me more focused on making sure only Athletes would compete & travel if they were only able to contribute to competion standings [in a DIII level); explained in detail how every Athlete must return to try out to "earn their spot" on the team, even returning star Athletes. Aldrick did stress the importance of perserverance and diligence to committent and practice "put your time in" and is looking for dedicated Athletes. I didn't get a good sense of what type of training strategies would be specifically adapted and focused for short distance runners and that he was relying on a newly hired short distance coach. We weren't looking for a "easier ticket to get admitted to CM via athletics" and I'm sure this Coach has met with many prospectives thinking that athletics would be a way into admissions. That all said, I saw the passon for excellence and dedication as a Coach but we walked away thinking his coaching style may not be a great fit for our athlete and questioned what type of team culture this Head Coach would cultivate."
