"This was a really frustrating experience. The coach often came across as demeaning and disrespectful toward players. Instead of building a strong team, his attitude and decisions ended up causing tension and pushing teammates apart. It was disappointing to see a team fall apart because of poor leadership."

"I tried to transfer to another school because I hated my experience on his team. I transferred to a junior college to play for 2 years. I was on his Jv team and participated in 2 non sanctioned games where no stats were taken under Gregg Suave at Northwood University. When I transferred to my new school, the Athletic director sent a letter to Suave to confirm I still had an extra year of eligibility. For no reason at all, Gregg Suave denied my extra year of playing for a different school just because he felt like it. My new coach fought for months to try and get me that year of eligibility back but could not because of him. I missed out on being able to play another year of sport i have dedicated so much of my time to because of him. He is an awful human for that. And I know there are multiple girls who have played for him can agree. "

"In my experience, the situation felt very personal and extremely disappointing. Decisions seemed to come more from a place of ego and entitlement rather than fairness or genuine concern for the players. Because of this, a teammate ended up being removed from the team in a way that felt unnecessary and poorly handled. Instead of demonstrating leadership, understanding, and professionalism, the situation reflected a lack of judgment and maturity. Coaches play an important role in shaping young athletes’ experiences, and unfortunately this experience showed a clear lack of the guidance and responsibility that players deserve."

"In my experience, the coaching style created an environment that felt discouraging rather than supportive for the players. Communication often came across as demeaning and lacked empathy, which can be damaging for young athletes who are still developing confidence and skills. Instead of bringing the team together, the leadership seemed to create division among the players. A strong team should be built on respect, encouragement, and unity, but unfortunately that sense of teamwork was missing. Overall, it was disappointing to see a group of athletes with potential struggle in an environment that did not promote positive development or team cohesion. I feel bad for the girls on this team such a bad situation! This was supposed to be a fun, exciting experience and he made it not."

"Unfortunately, my experience with this coach was very negative. The communication style was frequently harsh and unkind, which created a mentally difficult environment for players. Rather than focusing on encouragement, development, and respect, interactions often felt overly critical and discouraging. Athletes deserve coaches who support their growth and well-being, and I did not feel that standard was met here."

"One of the worst coaches to have. He mentally abuses his players, gives them false hope, and is not fair. He promises girls scholarship money year after year but then does nothing about it. He is a liar and a very very poor communicator. He should not be a coach let alone for an NCAA division 11 team. He rips the love of the game out of his players and does nothing feel bad about it. He has a very cold heart and never takes accountability for his actions but expects everyone else to. Do not recommend playing for Gregg Suave unless you want to jeopardize your mental health and love for the game. "

"He over promises and under delivers. During recruitment he will tell everyone they are getting money and will make varsity. Lies. He gets you into the school and then will shuffle girls to JV. Makes excuses as to why their athletic money didn’t process. His job is to get bodies in to the university for enrollment. He creates separate group chats excluding JV players, and creates a toxic environment of favoritism. NU doesn’t even give all the girls uniforms. Media day left some without belts, jerseys or socks. JV gets nothing-keep in mind all were told they were on varsity when committing or transferring. If that’s not bad enough, they bring the non-starting varsity players to JV games so some players NEVER PLAY or develop! They do however get a $50,000+tuition bill and expected to fundraise and volunteer. Unethical Broken Program. Go Elsewhere. "

"Coach Gregg is the worst coach you will EVER experience. just in one year he has made 17 girls quit softball and lose the love of the sport ,if you are not his favorite or do not "fit" in his "piece of his puzzle" he will act like you dont even exist and treat you like dirt. From personal experience save your time for another school and DONT commit here its the biggest waste of time and will ruin your mentality for softball. Girls could write so much about their experience and he still wont change. His time needs to be up in the program and with coaching but he will never realize it. When recruiting girls he makes it seem like you will play and be on the "Varsity" team and say all these amazing things to hype you up and the program, we all fell for it and came to Northwood in shock with how the truth really is. if you do commit good luck and be aware you can never tell if he is joking or being serious with you and will make you feel dumb. He truly is not a coach anyone would want and we all dont get how he is still able too with how many girls leave and complain he is a master manipulator through and through. "

"Makes big promises and lies to players. Seen hostility to other coaches and umps. Many times is threatened to get kicked out of games. Plays favorites and lets good talented players sit entire seasons with no explanation and they are not allowed to ask him why. If he’s sweet talking you to play for him walk away!"
