"It is very interesting that the last three ratings for Jill are 5’s. Anyone who plays for Jill, knows she is not a 5 star coach. Otherwise, she would not be out coached every game, each team figures her two plays and adapts to beat her in the third quarter. Commentators wouldn’t be asking where the leading feeder is, who was not played during the 2024 spring season. Jill’s emotional intelligence is a major weakness, crying in the locker room, then screaming at the girls and calling the girls mentally weak. Her behaviors are not productive and certainly not one of a leader. For parents who say it is the disgruntled parents of women recruited by the previous coach. Are you saying that it is ok for a coach to treat their athletes badly? No young woman should be berated, belittled or demeaned, regardless of whom they were recruited by. You should be asking your daughters how they are treated, how their teammates are treated? I assure you they will not rate Jill a 5. Maybe Villanova should open their eyes and educate Jill and her assistant coaches on how to respect and treat young impressionable women. "

"Coach Jill is knowledgeable, passionate and cares about creating a team culture. I’m not sure where the negative reviews are coming from but I’m guessing it’s from players (or their parents) of older players that were recruited by the previous coach. "

"Jill is a phenomenal person, leader, coach and parent. She brings talented women together,in their most formative years, and demonstrates as well as teaches how to lead- through diversity, celebrations and defeat. The real world they prepare to enter will not always be kind and fair to them but parents should feel blessed that their daughters ( whether they are starters or not)- are given the privilege to see first hand what integrity, faith, and family looks like in action. Villanova is blessed to have Jill and her staff- and the teams are as well. Unfortunately some will only realize this much later in life!"

"Jill has a great way with connecting with people, pretty much you get out what you put in. She expects you to be your best on the field, in practices, games, and in life. I believe 3 or 4 times a year she has feedback meeting, stating what you’re doing well and what you can work on. Having this much communication with your head coach does not happen everywhere. Her job is win, so that means putting the best people on the field is crucial. So putting player vs player as other posts said was a bad thing. I don’t really have a problem with, you have to do that to find the player that wants it more. As for parent vs. parent I never really saw any of that, but then again it’s not about the parents. She is coaching young adults, teaching them as so and coaching them as so. She treats them as family. the big east scheduled a game the day before Easter and no one could go home to celebrate with their families, so she had them all over for dinner and Easter egg hunt. "

"She may be trying to building a program, but she’s diminishing a premier academic institution. The word should spread in the recruit community that this coach does not value her student athletes beyond the field. Be wary of this coach. Her reputation precedes her. Do your research before deciding to join this program while she’s at the helm. "

"Jill Batcheller is an amazing lacrosse coach and cares so deeply for her players and their success on and off the field. Jill invests her whole self into her team. As a player, I am forever grateful for having been coached by Jill. She taught me how to be resilient, determined, and to always follow my passions. She brings the team to her house to celebrate events and holiday with her children and family. Jill views her team as family and strives for creating that culture of love. Jill is the best at what she does and I never felt as a player to question her integrity or intentions as they were always positive and for the better of the whole team. "

"Her style of creating player vs player, recruiting class vs recruiting class and parents vs parents is nothing more than deflecting everyone from looking at her own inadequacies, which is the root of all problems. To tell one grade she “hates” another grade is inexcusable. Demanding the team not speak to a player and “gang up” on anyone for any reason is nothing more than bullying by an adult in a position of authority. Mental health amongst student athletes is an issue at the forefront of so many programs, but to realize the person put in leadership is the one creating these dangerous and potentially life altering situations is beyond comprehension. Over half of the team seeking mental health support should be a red flag the University should not ignore. "

"Academics is not a priority to coach Jill! Not one parent I knew of felt as though their daughters were in a good “environment” …toxic was the name of the game for Jill. No one should ever be treated poorly, esp when some of these girls did speak their truth at some point during the season(s)….those who were courageous enough got shot down, their concerns never mattered to coach Jill. An effective, smart, adaptable coaching style goes a long way, she doesn’t have any of these traits. Many of the girls I am confident stood up for themselves, some didn’t bc they knew the results from those brave enough to come before them."

"Sadly any of the above stars start at a one star rating being the least one can choose…I would choose negative stars if possible. The key words above are useless in this “worst case scenario” review! No communication unless you are her pet ! SOME, not all pets are turned into moles to give her any info possible, what the mole(s) fail to realize is that it empowers a disgusting excuse for a coach to cause further division against the team. Jill’s main agenda is to divide players, she uses mental and emotional demoralizing tactics to “coach”. Not a place for any young woman to grow in her program, you, (your) daughter will be reduced to a shell of her former self. She does not sub talented players in, these sidelined girls are treated as useless in her eyes. Jill doesn’t deserve the title of coach, doesn’t deserve to be in a position where your words and actions hold any value. Run as fast as you possibly can to another program, transfer if you are there, save yourself, any program would be better than the one run by Jill Batcheller. Her athletic director ignores the blatant abusiveness, so no satisfaction there! If you (your) daughter wants to have a fulfilling career at nova lax make sure before she commits that the school sports psychologist isn’t overbooked! More than half the team needs him to get through daily abusive practices and games! Good luck if you are willing to roll the dice on this coach or her puppet assistants..odds are against you, so choose carefully if you want to risk your mental and emotional well being so be it! Hope if anyone is reading this they understand how Jill is a poor excuse for a human being! "

"I don’t think it’s possible for me to even put into words how great of a Coach Jill and her assistants Maddy and Kelsea are. She leaves every program, team, and player better than she finds them. Jill gives 100% of herself to make sure ALL of her players are doing well on and off of the field. Thinking back to when I first started with Jill, I struggled to believe in myself. A lot of coaches would have left me in the dust, but she believed in me more than I could ever have believed in myself. I know she does this for everyone. At the end of my career with her I am so proud of the lacrosse player but more so the person I have turned into through her coaching, mentorship, and support. The way she changed my life inspired me to go into coaching myself, hoping to touch other lives the way she changed mine! She is knowledgeable, passionate, kind, caring, honest, and everything and more. Every program she has been to, she has flipped the team culture into a loving and winning team. I feel so lucky to have been a part of it! THE BEST TO EVER DO IT!!!!! Villanova is in for a bright future with her leading the way!"

"Have an all state academic all star high school player? Villanova women’s lacrosse and Jill Batcheller isn’t for you or your child. Jill Batcheller has created a mental health crisis on this team and potentially derailed their academic future. Her toxic environment of pitting grades against grades, players against players and parents against parents is not what I anticipated getting for $74,000 a year. Her coaching style of publically and privately humiliating players questions whether she has the mental capacity for leading young adults. No studying on trips and booking flights for starters separate from “dead weight” B team is also shameful by her and the program/university *flights were available on both flights for everyone "

"Villanova should be ashamed to have her as their Coach. She does not promote academics, does not want any of her future players to be in the Business School. Telling the athletes no studying before finals- because they make it to the Big East. She pits these student athletes against each other, she is a toxic mean spirited woman. If she was in the business world her toxicity would not be tolerated, she would be terminated. When over half the team is at the school psychologist- there are some real issues."

"Jill is a poor representation of what strong leadership and women should be. She coaches with intimidation and retaliation. She is disrespectful to athletes and holds their educational pursuits (internships) against them. She does not get to know her players or their families. If you do not serve a purpose for her; she easily discards you. She uses players weaknesses against them and unfortunately her assistant coaches follow her lead and are not willing to stand up to her, especially when treating a player badly, lying, or ridiculing them. They are weak and do not bring anything new to the table coaching wise. Although the sport of lacrosse is a proponent of strong mental health for players, Jill is the epitome of a narcissist, never reflecting on her own actions as she instead tears players down. This is reflected in the fact that greater than 50% of the team requires sports psychology intervention. Unfortunately, her coaching knowledge is also limited as she is unable to make modifications when the going gets tough. She often is out coached during games as her strategies and plays are limited. Strong academics are also of no importance to her. She’s boasted about never having gone to class during her playing days. Overall, a very poor mentor for young women and an abusive coach. Not a thriving environment for young female athletes. "

"This coach showed a lack of caring and commitment to the young women on her team. When a young woman was very sick, never reached out to make sure they were okay - only reached out to ask when they could play. This was a serious illness. Puts down players and messes with their confidence. I would never have my daughter play for her again. "

"From a prior review - "She cast aside any athlete that she didn’t mesh with immediately" THIS explains it. If you can make her starting line up or first subs in, great. Play for her. She is knowledgeable and has clear success. If not, expect to be treated as second class without consideration. She would go over hours during the off season. Does not care about mental health (unless key player) or academics. Was reprimanded for a doctor visit without her consent, extremely inappropriate given practice schedule was respected. Did not contribute to preparation for the "real world" but rather left with toxic memories and gained self worth. Her assistant coaches are phenomenal though. "
