"Overall, the experience was not great. I will commend him on his ability to put together a great a tournament schedule and develop his own events, however that it is as much praise as I can give. As a coach, he is very set in his ways which is not necessarily, but he refuses to learn or adapt to newer information, making him come off as more of a tyrant than a coach, because when he tells you something and it doesn't work immediately it is because you are not "listening" and he gets angry. This creates a toxic cycle and reinforces a negative view of ones game and attitude. A lot of these problems could be avoided if he had an assistant coach or simply did not impose his own teachings onto his players, but because he must rule with an iron fist, he will not get or keep an assistant coach. As far as character goes, he came off as a hard coach initially, but I believe him to just be more of a dictator or just a very negative person, unfortunately. The team culture was not actually that bad, because the players stuck together and tried to make light of the situation. Overall, I think the program had a good chance to develop well, but I think that something needs to change as far as coaching goes."
"Out of the 310 Nationally Ranked Division 1 teams, Central Michigan Men’s Golf team (ranked #255 nationally) is barely winning against any golf team on their schedule losing to Howard University (ranked #109) by 15 shots, North Carolina A&T (ranked #227) by 14 shots, and narrowly defeating Florida A&M (ranked #232) by only 8 shots, in CMU’s hosted event in California, while losing to tournament winner BYU (ranked #24) by 71 shots. "
"Angry, abusive, and divisive coach that cannot manage a Division 1 Men's Golf Team. Disorganized, always late, and drives the team van at excessive speed for long periods of time without rest, putting the players at risk. Was placed on Administrative Leave but reinstated without any explanation from the Athletic Director or the University. Promises a lot during the recruitment process but doesn't deliver any of his promises, and he has lost several talented players in the first 3 years of the program due to his favoritism to certain players and mistreatment of players he dislikes. Abusive to restaurant employees, golf course professionals, and other service workers causing embarrassment to the team. "
"Jennings is a bully and a control freak. Would rather sabotage a players career because of a disagreement than see it from another point of view. Was put on Administrative Leave in the fall season (2023) but was brought back much to the disappointment of many of the players. Has a long history of players only lasting one season with this coach. Great talker and will sell Ice to an Alaskan, but over all a bad guy in most settings and demands players to answer him with a Yes Sir or No Sir. Will make you do it his way or it is the highway - regardless of how talented a player is. Stay clear but if you go - buyer beware. "
"Coach Jennings is the total opposite style that he tells you during recruiting process. He is demeaning to athletes and treats service workers poorly. He is more like a bully boss. He confuses the athletes and plays favorites. It is not a team culture nor one where an athlete can grow as a young adult and athlete. "
