"Ronda Varnesdeel and Kevin Tidey have been bullies since their employment at Davenport University. Ronda Varnesdeel is highly unprofessional and is a hot head. She makes student athletes cry and holds her title and power over them. If you befriend her son who isn’t very good at his sport or at school or really anything. Case in point he went to 3 different high schools bc he couldn’t make the starting line up for football. What a great road map for other less than average student athletes to follow. That’s her soft spot for you to get whatever you want. Can’t make the starting line up - go complain to her, don’t work very hard at your sport - go complain to her she will have sympathy for you because that has been her life through her son. Kevin Tidey has committed so many fireable offenses at Davenport University but a blind eye is turned to it because he has been employed so long. He must have a running list of those in charge because they let Kevin get away with providing alcohol to student athletes, use Davenport issued equipment for his family and let his family benefit financially from events that the baseball program and university should be benefiting from. The list could go on and on. Two humans that shouldn’t be allowed to coach or be around student athletes. Creating future monsters the rest of the world will soon have to deal with. Entitlement U. "

"The Davenport Athletic department has been covering up horrible acts committed by employees of Davenport. From the baseball coach allowing his players to drink during games, the baseball coach drinking with the softball team, a facilities full time employee bragging and boasting about dating a football player- disgusting. Rules and standards here only apply to certain people but the ones who are buddies get away with everything. Someone should take a deep dive into the entire athletic department to see ALL the terrible acts they let their friends get away with. "

"Davenport University openly supports coaches and administrators that bully people to get what they want, that drink and drive, that drink with players, that have sexual relationships with student athletes. The young woman who takes pictures for the baseball team openly had a relationship with the star QB on the football team. This relationship was so open that everyone in the Athletic Department knows it including being the hot topic of conversation in the Atheltic Training room. A male trainer openly had a conversation about it with a student athlete at the university. This is a toxic place to be if you’re an ethical person. "

"I’ve watched Kevin Tidey and Ronda Varnesdeel plan the demise of the softball coaches and program from almost the minute they stepped on campus. Ronda Varnesdeel knows that Kevin Tidey drank with members of the softball team and didn’t do one thing about it. I’ve watched coaches who have standards try to hold their players accountable get laughed at by these two manipulating people. Many softball players have been caught underage drinking with baseball players and guess what Coach held her players accountable. Tidey made a joke out of it. It’s hard to have standards and create a good culture when you have teams on campus all being held to a different standard. I knew it would be a matter of time before they tried to kick these coaches out as they strive to do what’s right and follow the rules. "

"As a facility owner in west michigan I can tell you right now Kevin Tidey hasn’t had one positive thing to say about the softball program- he has spread hate to feed his agenda and to continue to abuse the system at Davenport. Davenport’s softball coaches are respectful, genuine and passionate about coaching. I’ve personally have had conversations with Kevin where he has mentioned they have been a thorn in his side because they do not seem to be rule breakers like him. "Nepotism at its finest with Davenport Univeristy. Everyone in position of power has a child at the Univeristy that are on an athletic team. If you want good things to happen for you befriend their children and that’s your golden ticket. So sad coaches are forced to have these children whose merit don’t validate them to play at the division 2 level but I guess to be fair they don’t play so just a reserved seat on the bench. Befriending these children will allow student athletes and coaches a golden ticket to do whatever unethical action they want to do. Really seems problematic if you ask me. Unfair my son does not receive this same treatment. "

"I’ve personally attended a “camp” for baseball at the softball field. It wasn’t a camp it was a tournament, Tidey had his kids working and they were taking money at the gate. He laughed that it was their allowance for the summer. I thought that was awfully odd. So a Davenport Employee can have their children work Davenport events and take and keep money that was meant to go to the baseball program. It does seem like the rules truly do not apply to this bully of a man. I feel sorry for anyone that has to experience this. "

"Watch out if you’re a softball coach and want to come to Davenport University. The administration openly allows Kevin Tidey to walk over the softball program so much so that he openly recruited a female trainer and facility worker to mistreat the softball coaches and players and deny them basic help with the only dirt field on campus. I have documentation of the female trainer interfering in group me with a playing decision between the softball coach and in conference school (PNW) undermining the coaching staff every step of the way. It’s very concerning the institution protects coaches who openly drink and sleep with student athletes and does not protect coaches who have a moral compass. "

Car salesman but when push comes to shove won’t stand up for a player unless he sees a benefit of them on the field. I’m happy my son left the program as well as a record amount of transfers last year. "
