"Kurt is the kind of coach that will make you regret you played in college. He consistently pits players of the same position against each other which results in little team chemistry or lasting friendships. Kurt lies to everyone on the team, he will nod his head yes and act like he cares so he can say he listened then completely go back on his word. He does not deal with conflict and imo has no balls. He cares about the teams physique and will actively comment on certain players weights or tell them they need to lose x lbs over the summer to where it results in team member eating disorders. He does not communicate except to his favorite 1-2 players. There is no focus on building you as a person or ever trying to actually get to know you. If you mess up, he will almost immediately pull and replace you with the next person— total lack of belief in anyone except the star. Kurt plays mind games with most of the team and will make you doubt yourself and feel like crap. He refuses to run any offense but the one he wants and does not take input from players. Stay away from this coach and program. He is the reason no program alumni are supportive or return. "
"Kurt is not an honest coach and will lie/ heavily pit players of the same position against each other; unfortunately there is no true team chemistry because of this. He will placate you, tell you whatever you want to hear just so he doesn't have to deal with you. Kurt has no balls and heavily favors the best player who typically happens to be the prettiest. If you tell him you don't like to be coached a certain way, ironically or purposefully, he will then only coach you that way. He is responsible for starting several eating disorders on the team and sadly care about doing so or help players thru this. He will not have your back or help build you up as a person, he does nothing to help advance you in any potential career. There is also minimal to no alumni support which happens to be due to who the coach is. Strongly recommend not playing for him, it will make you hate the sport. "
"Lies to his players to appease their emotions (which he has absolutely no ability to empathize with) rather than being direct about his opinions of you as a player. Very poor communication skills. Every coach wants to win, but what makes a great coach is creating a community, creating positive relationships with players, making sure the players still enjoy the sport. He does none of that. He doesn't respect his players unless you're one of the 2-3 stars that can win him games (only until someone better comes along though). Doesn't take time to develop his players either (in the sport or personally). He has zero interpersonal skills. "
"Kurt has absolutely no backbone, and consistently lies to and belittles his players. He only plays the first string, which results in them becoming seriously injured, and once they're injured he treats them like trash. 2/10 would recommend. "
"Kurt really takes a personal interest in your life and you as a student and person, which is really important as a D3 school. One of the only major concerns I have regarding him as a coach is his tendency to say one thing, and do another (i.e., favoritism that created tension and divides at times)"
