"Larry VanWagner has affairs with the Diving coach Melanie Bolstad. Unsurprisingly, they are both horrible coaches and people. Instead of motivation and support, bullying and intimidation are their main methods of "coaching" ... if you could even call it that. He was also caught embezzling money from the Marist Swim Club. "

"Larry Van Wagner is a horrible man. He is demeaning toward his swimmers and will use any leverage he can to pounce on you. In this way he is both intimidating and promotes an agenda of domination. His workouts and knowledge of the sport are incredibly outdated and he refuses to adapt or take any suggestions. I could write an entire essay about him."

"If there were lower ratings I would have gave them. To say he was the worst coach I ever had would be a compliment. Larry Vanwagner is the worst person I've ever met. To start, Marist caught him stealing from the team so idk why he's still there. In A nutshell, lvw is an arrogant, rude, cheating, stealing asshole who knows nothing about swimming"

"Acts as though he wants you to succeed but doesn't usually give a shit about you after your freshmen year. Rarely offers encouragement and has been known to immediately tell you what you did wrong in a race the moment you touch the wall. His assistants are exponentially more qualified. Still way better than the diving coach though."

"One of the most classless people I have ever met. Rude and acts like a know it all. Has an affair with the diving coach who is also a witch. They mock athletes who aren't good and at ones who struggle with their academics while putting up with their childish behaviors. Worst experience ever, would never recommend swimmers to come here."

"he's a giant dick, plain and simple. He'll show you respect if you're a talented swimmer and can consistently make him look good, but even then it's still very minimal. He also engages in questionable accounting practices when dealing with scholarships and meal money over breaks. probably the main reason I quit the team. #MemoriesFromAMaristBurnout"
