"Mads Kaiser has been the Head Coach at SFU the past 3 years, not the asssistant as currently indicated on this site. I'm not a fan based on the following observations. Coach is from Germany and in past two previous seasons had 7 German players and they all were starters- no matter how long with the team, whether were brand new transfers or new Freshman. This year three Germans, and they all have been starters. In my opinion that just doesn't have a good appearance. The highest percentage of playing time per person under this coach goes first to German players, then other international players, then lastly to American players, even if American players made up at least half the roster. During spring season games, with Seniors who had no more regular season eligibility left, and who were previous starters- they often still played almost whole games, at the expense of others who had plenty of eligibity and who may have worked hard for an opportunity but played little to no minutes fall or spring. It seems like Spring games would be a great opportunity to play athletes with actual eligibility left to help them develop game experience and to see what they can do in a real game setting. I don't think that's good for overall team culture, nor fosters a competitive & rewarding experience for players with real eligibility left. Also seemed overly defensive minded. Seemed better at tying a game than winning. It didn't seem like he had a good goals to game ratio, and would sometimes play lineups without any forwards/strikers on the field. Just Middles and defenders as field players. Seems like a non-winning strategy. I can understand doing this if the team is winning the game, but if tied or losing doesnt seem to make sense in my humble opinion. "
"Moody. Didn't make good game decisions and strategy. Played favorites. Almost impossible to move into lineup even when others didn't make an impact. Appeared to have starters and subs already determined before first day of practice even if a Freshman. Thank God for the transfer portal!"
