"Markus lets happiness of a few influence decisions for the whole team - ends poorly. Doesnt respect players/other coaches within program/university. unpredictable and lets his mood dictate outcome of training. Wont invest in player development. Wants you to be an athlete before a student but demands great grades. Always has conflicting messages. "
"Knew he had favorites on the team and it was obvious. Was not super knowledgeable about the sport even though he made it seem like it when being recruited. Made decisions based on personal relationships to start players, was very political. Also has somewhat of a temper so it was hard to gauge what mood you would be getting on different days."
"Plays favorites and doesn't understand physiological differences between players. Threw seniors stuff in trash bags after the season ended. Doesn't give players enough time to get to class from practice. Goofy guy that can be light hearted and tries to care about his players and their families but doesn't always follow through."
"Markus promises most players that they will be a big contributor to the team, and obviously that's not possible. He plays favorites. His mood is extremely unpredictable ranging from uncomfortably goofy to silent treatment to red face angry. He does promote growth outside of soccer which is nice—emphasizes grades and volunteering but not consistent "
"He's a goofy coach who always wants people to like him... This means not always being honest with people. He definitely plays favorites and has his players focus more on being big and strong rather than being speedy with good foot skills. He finally started to cut people on our team that really shouldn't be playing division I but it took him years to do so. You don't realize it at first because his personality is so goofy, but it's almost like he fakes caring for his players.. I could go on."
