"Very difficult coach to communicate with and lacks personal connections and social skills to his players. Always puts winning/hockey over school and personal life (dying family members). Coaching style is extremely old school. Team culture extremely strict early curfew, not allowed to leave the hotel, no talking on bus rides, can’t talk to parents or friends after games, ”optional” practices that are actually mandatory, “chub club.” Lived in the past when Mercyhurst was extremely successful and expected the exact same results out of very different people at a very different time in women’s hockey. Coaching style is a tunnel vision mindset where there is little to no room for improvement as he doesn’t notice you though if you play, you will always play a lot."
"He may have a lot of wins under his belt, but he did not get that way caring about the well being of players or their academics. He forces his athletes to play and practice even while injured and does not care about the toll it takes on their body as long as he wins. He tries to turn teammates against each other by forcing them to write negatives about everyone and then reads them aloud. Class is never a priority to him and every year someone transfers to a different school because of him."
"Really knows his stuff as far as hockey goes. Very old school as far as fitness and testing although, that has improved and is getting better. Is Very helpful, understand and willing to help with anything after you graduate, but while you play for him all he cares about is winning and will do anything to help as long as it somehow relates back to hockey. Time off is very rare even if you have injuries or illness."
