"My experience with this baseball program was extremely disappointing. During recruitment, I was told a turf field would be constructed during my time at the school. I have since graduated, and the turf field was never built. There were approximately 70 total players, including around 40 freshmen, and many of them were eventually cut. He repeats this process year after year, causing most of the cut players to transfer schools. More importantly, I saw very little genuine effort toward developing the players on the roster. Practices involved little to no actual coaching or individual instruction. Players were mostly expected to run routine drills, field ground balls, and complete cage work without meaningful feedback or guidance. It felt like the program brought in a huge number of athletes without having a realistic plan to coach, develop, or provide opportunities for them. I understand that college athletics are competitive and playing time is never guaranteed. However, athletes deserve honesty during recruitment, a fair opportunity to compete, and coaches who are committed to their development. Based on my experience, this program did not provide those things. I would strongly encourage prospective players and their families to ask detailed questions about roster size, facilities, player development, cuts, and how playing-time decisions are made before committing."

"I’m simply going to state the facts and set the record straight (all of this is verifiable via the SVC athletics official website. Janosko has been coaching at Saint Vincent for 28 years. Out of those 28 years, he has managed a winning record 6 times (21.4%). His career record is 513 wins, 613 losses (100 more losses than wins). In 28 years, he has won a total of 0 PAC championships. People may come on here and praise his coaching style, saying that he’s a tough love coach who pushes players to be better. 6 winning seasons in a 28 year career, and 0 Presidents Athletic Conference championship titles in the same time, prove otherwise."

"During my tenure playing under Coach Janosko, it was apparent that the knowledge gap was big and the care for the underclassman from a development standpoint was minuscule. The amount of preparation and care for not only individual development but team development hurt not only our teams over the years but the future teams as Saint Vincent College’s Player retention rate is very bad. Most kids lean on transferring to other teams and getting better opportunities. It also felt that the leash was longer for certain players and very short for others. Let’s also add that after March 1st we did not practice….at all. Other things to note is the offseason workouts felt disorganized and didn’t contribute to team growth. Lastly, the general feelings from the teams I have played on is that the locker room he does not have. JV games on top of everything were useless. When we played my freshman year we didn’t play or practice from March to May and on finals week they decided to schedule us 3 games during that week. JV was a waste of time and eligibility and served more as a rehab place than a developmental opportunity. Overall, if you don’t come in on Varsity as a freshman you might want to consider transferring. OH one more thing. I broke my leg my junior year and entered my senior year with limited play for fall meaning I could only run at 50% and couldn’t slide. Keep in mind I have them my status and the doctors orders. In quote I was told at the end of the year “ After watching you this fall we are concerned that you are a liability on the basepaths and didnt see you take any risks.” After that I decided to step away from the team."

"Zero advice given to players on whether they did good or bad, although if you screw up you will hear about it. Does not show any type of respect to players, plays favorites. Very hard person to try and talk to on and off field, often times you will get ignored trying to ask simple questions or get his attention. Always stated i would rather you make a physically mistake than a mental mistake on the field but whenever you did he would take you off the field and you would likely never get a chance to step on it again.Without a doubt has his favorites, as does coach lynn. My question is if you recruit 20 freshman why not try and built your team from there giving feedback to young college athletes, rather than tearing them down as soon as they step on the field. Would rather yell than give advice on how to get back. Overall horrible coach I would not commit here if I had a chance to take it back. Daddy ball is college as well."

"Its time for him to retire, he has lost the feeling of what it has meant to be a player and is so distant from when he played that he thinks everything he "could" do in college that everyone else can do. He had a gift of being able to play back in his day that he cannot develop players because he cannot fathom new ideas, fundamentals, and approaches. He also claims to be honest and direct when he is that way for the players he likes or when you are doing good but the moment you go 0-4 one game, he acts like you never were good at all. Also is not consistent with coaching and his "want to win" mentality. I saw him bench a 5th year senior, captain of the baseball team, that was second in the country in doubles for all of ncaa at the time because he went 0-3 in a game with a bad umpire. He is all about winning games until he sees the team win without him being the reason they won. Yes he has had "recent" success due to getting lucky on transfers but he doesn't develop players, doesn't practice in season, doesn't coach, over manages, recruits kids to meet a quota, and yells first and asks questions second. If you go here you have a chance to play if you become his favorite in the fall but also you have the chance to walk away from the game completely. I have never seen so many kids hang up cleats mid year and mid season than I did at my time playing for him. The assistants are good, coach Lynn tries his best and knows a lot about baseball but his hands are tied. Until he is gone Saint Vincent will never win a Conference Championship with him at the helm. He is the nicest guy off of the field, when you are in his office, in the recruiting process and when talking to families. His time as a coach on the baseball field should be given up for the players and for the school. I will not say he is a terrible man because he isn't but the game has passed him by and if he stays he will continue to destroy young players careers. If I could go back in the recruiting process and talk to myself again I would really think hard about playing for him again and every player that gets recruited now should do the same. "

"It is rare to see a group of talented young men lose their passion for baseball so quickly, but that is exactly what is happening under Coach [Mick]. The environment is toxic; there is no actual coaching occurring, only yelling and derogatory remarks. The lack of accountability for the coach’s son, contrasted with the harsh treatment of the rest of the roster, has fractured the locker room. When the assistant coaching staff is trying to leave as fast as the players, it tells you everything you need to know about the state of the program. It’s a shame to see a college program run this way."

"When coach Janosko says (and he says it often)...if you hate me when you graduate, then I've done my job...maybe you should ask yourself if this is the place for me? After games you either get screamed at or ignored! No idea on game strategy as he sits at the end of the dugout and doesn't speak to anyone (only occasionally yelling if someone makes a mental or physical error). 2026 certainly has been a challenging season, but why would coach Janosko give you off 5 days before rolling out the balls for the final DH? Did he decide to mail it in? You would think our spring break trip would be an unforgettable experience with some team bonding, competitive games and the coaching staff getting us prepared for when we get back? Well coach Janosko was only interested in the parents who were sitting a bit to close to the dugout for his liking. Even threatening the team if he were to find out whose parents they were, they wouldn't play. And finally coach Janosko is so proud that he built the SVC baseball program...remind us all what he built? SVC baseball is an experience!"

"Please sign me up for a coach who only sees the bad, is not willing (or able) to improve the player/team and plays favorites. M**k picks the lineup out of a hat from game to game with a few exceptions. So get 3 hits and your not one of his favorites, you may not play again for a week. No idea how in 2026 a coach with a defeatist attitude (but not 100% sure on this because he has not a lick of personality), who has been on the losing end just about every season over his career and continues to punch the clock like its a 9 to 3 job is still employed? Roll the balls out M**k and continue to sit in the corner of the dugout and then blame everyone but yourself when you lose. Maybe actually have a practice or 2 with you engaged might help? Oh wait, M**k can continue to churn through 20 new freshman (and transfers who get a crack at playing just because they transferred to SVC) every single year because this strategy may ultimately work? A great question for the AD would be to ask old M**k what his coaching style and team culture is? Enter SVC a young man and leave hating the game because of M**k!"

"Kinda hard to rate on the caring, motivational, and knowledgeable aspect when M**k has little (at most) to say as he is a man of few words and his communication skills are non-existent. During practice (rarely, if not canceled and hardly ever on the field...not sure what else he is doing with his time other than collecting a paycheck) and games he sits by himself offering no or limited feedback to players. So defensive reps, offensive swings and a pitchers throwing/conditioning program with an actual coach eyeballing/providing constructive feedback don't seem to be in M**k's wheelhouse? Whatever happened to coaching players up to make them better players (and teaching life lessons through baseball)? Memorable story...nada, I guess you live and you learn and put Saint Vincent College (which I loved as an institution) baseball in the rearview and not look back! And playing favorites or 'parental' favoritism has no impact on his decision making process? Let me guess, he steps away in 2 years...wink, wink!? Since 1998 (M**k's 1st season) he's had 6 seasons where Saint Vincent baseball has finished above .500...we should all be so lucky to have career longevity while being a failure in our career path. Thankfully I'm sure he'll support me after graduation? NOT...because it just might interfere with a Penguins, Pirates or Steelers game!"

"Coach Janosko is a coach who lies to his players and finds only the bad in the players he doesn't like. When playing for Coach Janosko I witnessed not only myself but other players get cut from a dress list for no apparent reason. He preaches one philosophy then gets mad halfway through the season when it isn't working. When Playing for M**k you will feel like part of the crowd, there is no feedback on good or bad plays, and the fear of getting pulled from the dress list is constant as M**k time and time again shows no trust in the players he recruits. He would rather turn to D2 and NAIA transfers who lack discipline and work ethic due to Janosko handing them the starting jobs. M**k Janosko has killed not only mine but many other players love for the game due to his poor coaching and even worse personality. "

"I've played for many bad coaches but none of them were near as bad as Janosko. I was lied too the first day I ever stepped foot on campus. We were told that there would be a brand new turf field and he even showed recruits pictures of what it would look like. But the field is never going to come. Players get yelled at when they ask him questions. What kind of coach does that?? It's part of his job, even though he's clearly only in it for the money as he continues to recruit 25-30 new kids every year and then gets rid of most of them after their first year, just to bring 25-30 many more on the following year. It's a never ending cycle.  Practices are extremely unorganized with only two coaches looking over 70 kids. He is also a confidence killer. If you make one tiny mistake, even in a practice,  you will get screamed at. During games, it's as if there's no coach there. He just sits at the end of the dugout and rarely says anything to anyone, only yelling at players if something goes wrong. He never seems to give positive feedback to players, its always negative and then he complains when everyone plays uptight. He also plays favorites, which is clearly representative of the terrible record from this past season. With the amount of kids on the team, the record should have been a lot better than it was. Coach Janosko has ruined my love for the game and I deeply regret my decision to play for him. If you are getting recruited to play at Saint Vincent, definitely look elsewhere."
