"Coach Laird does not care at all about player development. He has a track record of freshmen quitting before they finish their first year. His priority is on junior and senior transfer students. He tells naive high school kids and young transfers that WPU has a great JV baseball program that develops skills. There was no JV program for many of those years. When I told him I was waking away from the team because I wanted to focus on my studies, he didn’t ask me about my reasoning, he didn’t care about my well-being or love for the sport, all he told me was that he’d have to pull my scholarship and that it would “look bad for his program”. I knew right away I was making the right choice to walk away from the sport I loved. He took that away from a lot of us that year. "

"This coach is the worst coach i have ever had. He doesnt know what he is talking about. Total salesman! Brings you in with excitements and crushes them when you actually attend the school. Doesnt care about anyone just himself and his money. He almost killed us the 2015-16 squad when he made us travel in a massive blizzard to work a 12 hour graveyard shift when our van slid off the rode into a ditch and almost hit a pole. He did not report it to the school and never apologized."
