"I had the opportunity to play for Coach Paul for two seasons, as well as be one of his team captain's during my time. Coach Paul is the embodiment of what it means to be a good Christian man, leader, and coach. He coached SAGU women's soccer not only to be the best players they can be but to be the best Christians and women we could be. I was there at the same time as all the other girls that are bringing him down in the reviews. Some of the things being said about Coach Paul are untrue and incredibly sad to see. Coach Paul never did anything that was not in the best interest for us as his players. Everything he did was for us and our benefit. In my experience, Coach Paul has been an amazing influence in mine and other people's lives. He values his relationships with his players, and makes sure that he was not just a coach for his players but also a mentor. He created meaningful and purposeful relationships with each and every one of his players. Off the field, coach Paul was there for every player in their times of need, no matter what it may be. He is understanding, and he gave multiple players opportunity after opportunity because he understands that everyone is human. He made sure that each player was successful in the classroom. He checked in with us often just to see how we were doing mentally. Coach Paul is personally responsible for my growth in my relationship with God. I would not be the Christian woman I am today without him and his guidance, and I know I'm not the only one. Coach Paul is a huge reason that I am successful today. He personally took me from an average player, to a player who is now playing soccer at the Division 1 level. He develops his players into amazing athletes and people. Coach Paul took this team from a team that other teams didn't have to worry about and changed us into a team that made history, that went to national, and that scared other teams. He makes trainings intentional and important, and he focuses on overall growth of each player. He gave us tips to make us better players. He focuses on the little details of soccer, the things that most people wouldn't even think make a difference, but they do. He made practices fun, the atmosphere was energetic and positive. He came to practice everyday with a smile on his face; anything that may have been going on in his personal life, he left it off the field so that he could be the best coach for his team. Coach Paul is selfless and loving. He sets standards for the team that benefit us, and some people were unable to meet those standards. Most of these other reviews are absolutely heinous, and are incredibly disgusting and false. To play soccer at the college level, there are going to be hardships. Coaches have to be tough on their players in college, it's the expectation. The players leaving nasty reviews are players that were removed from the team due to not meeting the standards required to be apart of a Christian college team. The whole coaching staff at SAGU was incredible. Coach Paul made sure we had the best assistant coach, Natalie Solorio, so that we could be successful and understood. She also embodied what it means to be an amazing Christian and woman. She was there for us on deeper levels, she was a coach on the field, and a friend and mentor off the field. She is a role model for every player she coaches. They built our team on relationship, trust, joy, compassion, and connection. Coach Paul was never mentally, physically, verbally, or sexually abusive to ANY of his players on or off the field. Those are incredibly false allegations that should not be thrown around lightly. In no way did any of our coaching staff EVER permit eating disorders. We were encouraged to fuel our bodies correctly, from the food we ate to the electrolytes we drank before games. We were never put down about our weight, size, appearance, or personality in any way. He was never physically harmful to us in any way whatsoever. He was never mentally harmful to us whatsoever. The coaches made sure our mental health was good, and that we were safe and happy. Being a college athlete is a mental battle, and they knew that, and were always cognizant of what we were going through. There are expectations in a competitive college athletic environment that have to be met. If there were no standards then we never would've had the success we had. The players who are coming on here and commenting negative things are the players who could not meet the standards that were required to be a competitive college athlete. Coach Paul would climb mountains in order to make his players successful and make sure we were happy. For anyone to say otherwise is truly unbelievable. I am not the only player who could go on about the positive things that coach Paul has done for them. Coach Paul genuinely cares about every soul he comes in contact with, and gives everyone nothing but the best from him. Any player would be lucky to have him as their coach, and I am incredibly thankful and lucky for the two seasons I had with him as my coach. -Lydia Johnson"
"I was a team leader for the Sagu women's soccer team for three years, I can confidently say that Paul Hason is a Godly man who genuinely cares about his players and their lives. He consistently pushed us to reach our maximum potential, helping us achieve our goals, just as he did for me.
I shared the same locker room with all my teammates, who are now defaming him and his coaching style. However, in my experience, he always put God first in every meeting, practice, and game. Paul created a unique relationship with each player, ensuring we all felt part of a close family.
When some players faced financial difficulties that could prevent them from completing their degrees, Paul did everything in his power to support them and enable them to finish their studies, putting their well-being first. He helped numerous players, even those who went against him.
I find the negative comments about him insane and sad. It seems some are trying to ruin his life simply because they disagreed with the standards of a team built on love, joy, and, most importantly, a God-centered approach. His coaching staff, including assistant coach Natalie Solorio, always cared for our mental health. As female athletes, we needed a different type of care, so Natalie closely followed up on matters related to our well-being.
If I ever needed advice on any aspect of my life, I would undoubtedly contact Paul Hason. He is a wise man who saw our potential not just as soccer players but as human beings. His purpose was to plant seeds in our hearts, guiding us to become Christ followers with a greater purpose in life.
The way he impacted my life was tremendous and genuine, both as a person and as a coach. I am 100% certain that my teammates agree with this sentiment. Paul is one of the main reasons why I also aspire to be a coach and positively impact people's lives, regardless of the context.
He taught me invaluable lessons that extended far beyond coaching and into navigating life's challenges. Paul was a role model, and thanks to his commitment to putting the team first and the decisions he made, we achieved a historic goal by reaching nationals for the first time in 8 years. He believed in us, he believed in me, and he believed in his coaching staff.
Paul's guidance and influence were truly transformative, shaping our athletic abilities, personal growth, and spiritual development.
Throughout my time with Coach Paul Hason, I never once felt attacked, sexualized, emotionally abused, or anything remotely similar to negative comments found on this website from players who are bitter because they were removed from the team, friends of these players, and even parents of them. After reading my post, I wouldn't be surprised if these players found a website and complained about me.
On the contrary, he actively supported me in completing my degree at SAGU, and finding opportunities to work, study, and pursue my master's degree. And I was not the only one; he went above and beyond for the entire team, making our safety, future, and relationship with God his top priorities.
More than just a coach, Paul Hason was a friend, a mentor, a guiding light, and an influential figure in our lives. He embodied the qualities of a true role model and leader, inspiring us to reach our full potential on and off the field.
