"I just found out about this site and I hope it gets the attention of perspective players. I am also a parent and I have to agree with the comment of “DO NOT LET YOUR KID PLAY FOR THIS MAN”.. I agree, he is abusive. In addition to talking badly about parents and sharing private information in front of the team, he has said racist comments, talked negatively about former players, and overall says demeaning things to the players. It is not tough love, it is mental abuse..Most players do not respect him because he shows them no respect. Three seniors quit the team this year, that tells you a lot about the atmosphere he created.
I also agree that it’s “ Sad he gets away with it. I hope more people find this site. He needs to stop the ABUSE! ""
"I’m a parent…I have to weigh in. DO NOT LET YOUR KID PLAY FOR THIS MAN. He is abusive and not only calls parents names in front of team but also brings up private things about players in front of the team. He’s just angry he’s still coaching the same D3 team for over 20 years! I ran into a guy who played for him about 20 years ago and he said he was awful back then too. I’m not a soft parent but this guy will make even a strong kids mental health bad. Sad he gets away with it. I hope more people find this site. He needs to stop the ABUSE! "
"Coach Hedrick over recruits, is not honest and players do not respect him. He shouts the most ridiculous comments while coaching and does not care about the mental health of his players. He and his assistant have created a negative atmosphere where the majority of players are miserable and can’t communicate with the coaches without fear of being benched. Make sure you look to see how many of his players stay all four years before you commit to this program. "
"As an ex-player, I would not recommend playing for Hedrick. He is not honest or motivational and I don't think he's very knowledgeable about baseball. He puts on a good act in the beginning. He says inappropriate things to players. Most players think he is bipolar. When I played, seniors quit the team and I recently found out that 2 seniors also quit at the beginning of this season. This tells you a lot about how players feel about the coach."
