"Sean Byron is the worst coach I’ve ever played for. Coaching wise, he never keeps the same system in place for longer than 2 weeks and is constantly teaching a different technique and method for every aspect of the game. You will not become a better player. When you ask him questions about anything regarding volleyball, he will get mad at you because he is unable to answer your questions and instead say “your job as an athlete is to say Yes Coach and do what I say” He treats injured athletes horribly and makes them feel guilty about their injury He pits girls against eachother He makes it abundantly clear who his favorites are He is sensitive and short tempered He destroys the self esteem of young women He creates a toxic team culture "

"Beware: don’t set yourself up for abuse, sexual harassment, racism, gas lighting, cyber stalking, bullying. Only positive reviews are submitted by himself, justifying his unlawful behavior. 19 girls reported his actions. Expect mediocrity from Marist to tolerate his behavior. Would he have to justify his behavior on these sites if his actions/intentions were those of a leader with integrity?! "

"I wish I had good things to say about Sean, but unfortunately I don’t. The Marist volleyball program has gone downhill since his arrival and he’s tanked team culture and morale. He’s been at Marist for 4 seasons and has had over 10 players quit the team. I’ve experienced and seen some sketchy behavior and just want to warn others about him. Marist is a great school, but the volleyball program has turned to rotten garbage under his leadership. "

"“Ask the players to know the truth” - coming from who? A player who you’re sleeping with to get her more money? Everything good about him on here is him writing it to save himself because there’s been 2 investigations going on against abuse, harassment, and exploiting. There is proof and 11+ girls have spoken up. "

"Sean lacks qualities of a successful leader- takes his own personal insecurities out on young female athletes. Lacks integrity, poor communication, overly controlling, excludes team members, seeks to destroy & sabotage female athletes, promotes & encourages bullying, dishonesty & selfishness. Uses Marist likeness to follow college girl porn (& cyber stalking), lies to players-especially recruits, never know what to expect, no clear game plan or expectation. Terrible team culture. Many reports of violations of Marist code of conduct, yet he continues to coach. When will the voices of female athletes be heard? "

"I played under Byron for two years and never felt a connection with him. Extreme favoritism and ignores players who do not start. Not the best environment for young girls and his approach towards creating team culture and cohesion is messy. He shares your personal information with other players and will gossip about you to your teammates. Overall, not a very good experience on his team. Do not recommend!!!!"

"This person is straight up evil. Any good review about Sean Byron is a lie or written by one of the players hes flirts with for playing time. He only plays people who he is attracted to and will call you terrible names if you don’t snitch on your teammates. A memorable story is when he walked up to someone and said they need to squat more to fit in a bigger size spandex, or when he intertwined his legs with a teammate on the bench. The team culture is everyone for themselves and he pins girls against each other so he can control them. "

"He created a terrible team culture, was verbally abusive to many girls, and had an entire class transfer after their freshman year. He would humiliate girls in front of the whole team. He will talk badly about you both behind your back and to your face. Worst coach I have ever had, he made me lose my love for the game."

"Sean is extremely approachable and makes sure that all of his athletes know that he is not only there for them on the court but also off the court. His players' wellbeing are his top priority. He has also implemented seminars and additional resources to better equip his players for life after college. I would play for Sean again in a heartbeat. "
