"He is an absolutely horrible softball coach. He knows nothing about the game an does not play to win. He plays favorites with the girls even if they aren’t performing in the field or at the plate. He also talks about players to other players in a negative manner causing team animosity . When he recruits for the team be blatantly lies to the girls. Makes promises that he doesn’t keep. When speaking to upperclassmen they say he lied to them. He is very egotistical and coaches the team with a what I say goes attitude. Doesn’t matter if what he says is wrong or doesn’t make sense. He had also told the players that they are not to wear leggins to practice either because he thinks they are too fat or its just distracting to the male coaches"

"Coach Verwers is a good coach who cared about me and had my best interest as a athlete and as a individual. He was a great motivator to me, and I believe was a very fair coach to play for. I appreciated his honestly when I needed it. Coach Verwers is a great coach who keeps himself busy every season of the year coaching different sports, if that doesn’t tell you how dedicated and how much heart this man has for sports then I’m not sure what will. I loved playing for him, I love the perspective he made me see for the game. Awesome man. "

"Did not coach, said if you had sex with more men than toes you were a whore, yet proceeded to sleep with his players… Had no respect to teaching his players to play the game, did the same drills every practice and we coached ourselves. Do not play for him. "

"he has the worst qualities of a coach i have ever ever seen. he will mentally and verbally abused his players. Not only does he coach a billion other high school teams he also coaches them more then he does his college team. despite half the coaches in our conference telling him he wasted talent this year he also told us that “next year i’m going to be cracking down and being more tough” Thanks todd for actually realizing that you were a pretty worthless coach to a team that could have won more then 6 conference games. He never actually coached until the last 4 games of the season and then expected everyone to produce on the field. My time and everyone else’s time will and has been wasted if you decide to play softball at Graceland University. Oh and did i forget to mention, he’s probably embezzling all our money (no wonder we only got 1 team shirt & no apparel) we were treated worse then JUCO kids if that says anything "

"If i could give the coach a 0/5 stars i would, but that wasn’t an option. this “coach” will get your hopes up then shatter them so quickly you wouldn’t have even seen it coming. he only plays his ‘iowa’ girls, so if you come from anywhere else but iowa, don’t expect to play. do not, absolutely do not waste your time with this coach, he is heartless, couldn’t care about you but claims to want to win all of his games but doesn’t even know how to coach. you will do the same exact drills every single day of practice and you will actually regress in your skill levels because of him. he put the worst player out on the field due to favoritism as well and expects to win. maybe if he would’ve put players out there that were good there could be a slight chance of winning. i would pay anybody to not go here, you will be miserable and you have been warned!"

"Where do I even start. Absolutely horrible coach and person. Not only degrades his players as athletes but also as people. Told us in a team meeting that some of us shouldn’t be wearing leggings because we were too fat. Absolute laziness coach I’ve ever seen in my life. All practice consisted of was batting practice on the field where he would sit on the bench and just watch, no coaching whatsoever. He wonders why the program struggles to make conference and it’s because of one reason and one reason only, Todd Verwers. Destroyed multiple players confidence and mental health. "

"The worst coach I’ve ever played for. All we do for practice is bp on the field, does not even try to coach us, and only cares about certain players and will do anything he can to get those two players to success even if it means losing a game. Overall extremely rude, very inappropriate with players, and just a complete jerk. Completely ruined softball for me and multiple other girls on the team. If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would.
