"Coach Suzana demonstrates clear favoritism within the beach volleyball program. Attention, feedback, and in-game coaching are consistently directed toward a select group of athletes, while others receive little to no guidance. During competition, coaching support appears conditional, and players who are not actively coached are often left to manage matches entirely on their own.
Healthy competition is important in any program, but the environment created here crosses into toxicity. Rather than fostering growth, accountability, and team unity, the approach discourages development and isolates athletes who are not part of the “preferred” group.
A successful program requires balanced leadership, equal investment, and intentional mentorship of all players. I hope moving forward there is greater awareness and a more equitable distribution of coaching energy so future athletes do not experience the same dynamic."
