"Avila’s facilities are very out dated. The strength and conditioning coach is great for girls can be extremely harder on the boys. Film room and conference room are the best that they have. Unfortunately, the school doesn’t have the funds or the want to change. Any time a complaint is brought to the AD it is dismissed even if it’s about abusive coaches. The women’s volleyball, soccer, and softball teams have had terrible coaches and nothing is done to dismiss or check them. For volleyball we were just told that we were being dramatic. I really hope more resources like this one comes out or that this one gets bigger so the issues there with the coaching staff can be addressed :( Sad that the AD refuses to put in effort to find new coaches and allows programs to rapidly go down hill. I loved 2019-2020, after that it’s only gotten and continues to get worse. "
Very Little Volleyball Knowledge Or Coaching Experience. Very Hard To Get Along With.

"Before Avila University the highest level of coaching she ever had was middle school volleyball and assistant high school basketball. Avila was desperate for a coach. Her volleyball knowledge isn’t high and unfortunately she talks badly about players with other players behind their backs. She will say one thing to a player and something completely different to another. She is young and it shows through her immaturity and decision making. The face she shows to recruits and others is completely different than what she shows her players. At least 5 girls have quit every year since she’s starting coaching, and I believe 11 quit last year. They don’t even have a setter any more they all quit. The only reason I finished my time at Avila with her was because I enjoyed my teammates and we rallied with each other to still have an enjoyable time despite her. Unfortunately, Avila as a whole has gone down hill in recent years I would avoid the school all together but especially if you’re deciding to play volleyball. The coach, the team culture, and the environment isn’t what I would want for myself. Unfortunately, the progress the team my first two years, going from last to 5th in conference, was killed when she got there. Avila hasn’t been higher than second last in conference since then and I fear it won’t get better than that until she leaves. She’s not someone I would like outside of volleyball either, she has very strong religious beliefs and grew up in a small town in Nebraska. Sad that my first coach left, because she was definitely not a fit for me. I could only see her being a fit for a very niche good girl, religious, can be manipulated and walked over type of person. "
"Who plays from game to game has no rhyme nor reason. An athlete can go from 90 minutes one game to 10 minutes the next with no communication. Bullies referees to the point of multiple red cards. Screams at players, often using the "F bomb". Calls players into her office and brings them to tears routinely. Talks negatively about players to other players. If concerning behavior is reported to the AD, there will be retribution."
