"Please do not let your child play for him. The worst experience in my daughters life. Horrible communication, dishonest, unprofessional, and disrespectful to all his players. "
"Worst coach ever. Coaches by fear and humiliation instead of compassion and positive motivation. Run away and don’t make a big mistake by going here. He is a tragic accident waiting to happen. Way too many injuries in the practice room. Coaching DI when he did not wrestle a single match in college competition. The university was warned against hiring him but didn’t listen. They are as much to blame as the coach as the AD and the rest of the athletic department and university president all blindly defend him against the multitude of NCAA violations and parent and athlete complaints. "
"This is an absolute nightmare of a coach. He thinks rules don’t apply to him. Has numerous NCAA violation investigations ongoing against him. Treats the wrestlers like garbage and constantly threatens and bullies them. No regard for safety of the athletes. Way too many injuries in the practice room and forces injured athletes to wrestle or be dropped. "
"This was a coach that destroyed my love for a game that had been so strong for over a decade. My outlet for mental health and trauma, she destroyed that within a matter of months. She was emotionally abusive. She withheld meals from us and forced us to watch her girlfriends game (who was a coach in the SAME conference) during an away trip on a Sunday night because we lost. We had to have a player go get her from the fields because we were hungry and had homework. Everything was reported to administration and they continued to ignore it for years and years of abuse. In my opinion, the entire athletic department needs to be investigated for turning a blind eye to the abuse the ensued for years. This coach talked so negatively about me to my teammates behind my back. She was the worst and her being fired was 10 years overdue. No one like that should be in charge of young women. She took advantage of her power in more way than one. "
"I feel every player should be warned before playing for Renee Hicks. I got worse as a player during my time playing at Bellarmine. Not only was the instructional ability of Hicks below satisfactory, we also endured harassment, bullying, sexual misconduct, withholding of meals, etc. To the ONE good review she got and to the person calling the victims “spoiled kids”, if Coach Hicks wasn’t guilty of the things she got accused of, she wouldn’t have been fired. "
"I’ve known Coach Hicks my whole life and it sickens me to think that spoiled kids attempt to stain her reputation! I’m directly connected to the player and parent that got her fired and it’s laughable that they are being believed! The truth will come out in the end!"
"PATHOLOGICAL LIAR!
By fair the worst coach I have ever played for. She knows nothing of the sport past 1992. She pins her players against one another to create drama. Sexually harassed the majority of the players on her teams. Renee also caused many of her players to suffer from mental health issues that followed them beyond their softball careers. I would never recommend anyone who loves the game to play for her. "
"I was hopeful at the beginning, but was up for a rude awakening. She was dishonest, manipulative, and was not prepared to coach at a collegiate level. She was also not able to coach players that did not have the same technique as her. "
"Mollie had favorites who had a say in the line up. She was close with certain players and let them have an effect on the team in an extremely negative way. It was pointless to practice because the time was so short. The team culture because of all of this was horrible, just like when Renee was the coach. She learned all of this from Renee. "
"This person gave nothing to the program the entire time I was there. Not only was she SO disrespectful to the players, she stood around at practice and never did a single thing. Claimed to be the hitting coach but never helped with BP, never helped the hitters in between at bats or when they were struggling, and never contributed in any way. She would put two players side by side and ask the coach from across the diamond who she would rather have on deck? Who does that? She was awful. -10/10"
"Being such a young coach many were excited to have Molly as one of their leaders. Yet some found that some of her coaching tactics were a bit childish. She knows a lot about the game but unfortunately let politics and other things get in the way of her judgement. I believe some of these tactics were picked up from the two college coaches that she formerly had experience with. Under a good head coach, I believe that Molly will learn what is acceptable as a coach and where to draw the line in certain situations. I only hope that she grows and improves. We need to be building up young women, not tearing them down and demeaning each other. "
"Mollie is someone who was a great player, knows a lot about softball, but isn’t near her full potential of coaching. After taking on the role of interim head coach, the team was excited. However, she really let the team down and didn’t grow at all during her time as interim head coach. She let players have too much input on line up, didn’t feed the team for 10.5 hours on the road, led practices for 30 minutes-1 hour, and didn’t lead the team to anymore wins past 1. She has potential, but Renee was her only example of coaching and look where that has led. "
"This was the worst softball experience of my life. She was an awful leader, awful coach, and an awful representative of the program. She made me hate showing up every day to a sport I used to love. I’d never recommend anyone I know to play for this person. She pins players up against each other, lies, disrespects players, and is incapable of teaching players ways to sharpen their softball IQ. I’m not sure how she was ever a college coach for as long as she was. "
"She cared about certain players, but that was it. she didn’t have much knowledge about the sport and was disrespectful to most players. practices were a joke and because of that the team didn’t care. "
"It is hard to understand what kind of coach Renee was until you were playing for her/ around people who played for her. Overall would not recommend. "
"Kevin Burns is a coach who worries about keeping his job, by making the administration happy, rather than care about winning and his players. He has not once backed a player up, or sought to help a player with any needs. He has consistently lied to players about giving them more scholarship money, along with showing almost no knowledge of the game. Along with rarely winning games, Burns has shown almost zero lacrosse IQ thought 4 years of playing under him."
"The guy is all about what ever makes him look good. He doesn't really care about post season or how much people put into a season. I really had a hard time relating to the guy and I have to bash him just cause he doesn't really coach. His assistants put I the work and scout and analysis and he makes the money."
