"Picks favorites, and creates team drama by gossiping with the favorite players over personal issues. Clear favoritism. It brings players in to not play them or give them chances. Lies about playing time to get you there. Media day with just starters or select hand-picked people.
Loved the atmosphere, but it sucks when your coaches turn everyone against you when you have worked so hard for something your whole life just to give it up one day because they made me end up hating softball. Lots of drama & team division, if you weren't recommended to play by a “favorite” you most likely would never touch the field no matter how good you were. Also was told they'd have a huge video scoreboard when recruited, there is yet to be a change lol. Just more lies. "
"From College coach to U14B in 2024 in Mid-TN local Club. I reach out to this coach requesting a quick evalaution as I'm plannng my son's winter training program and never head back from him. My sonand other players have complained about head coach missing 30-35% of practices in '24 Fall season. had assistant coach run practices. Couple of occassions he leaft practices early. He does understands the younger generatio's slang, communication and understanding of the game, may be a good coach for College and highschool players but not U14's.
Lack of leadership, he lets co-managers run the team and dictate direction of the team. Not a fit a coach for younger players. "
"I want to transfer. This man is the worst. Every single day he has a bad attitude and takes it out on his athletes. He abuses his power all the time. He has no respect for his athletes as people. To top it off he is disgusting. He picks his nose and eats it, picks his earwax and eats it, picks his scabs and eats them, and his sticks his hand down his pants to scratch his butt. He does all of this in front of us every day. He wasn't always like this, but each and every day this year has been miserable."
"He is a great guy who cares about his players and this school. He takes care of his wife and new born child as well as the team and helped lead us to a 7-3 record this year."
"When I was looking for a school to swim at, he seemed to be a nice person with whom it is easy to communicate and get along. As soon as I arrived, I understood it was all just a recruiting trick to get people to swim for him. He is angry every day on the pool deck and lushes out on his swimmers. He rarely said anything about how we swam but would lose his temper if we did something incorrectly. Also, it was easy to notice that he had people that he favored, and they would get away from things the rest of the team could not. It was miserable, and it was draining physically and mentally. Practicing was repetitive. We would do almost identical practices, swimming loads of long-distance sets daily. We never worked on technique. Gyms were also repetitive. The same exercises were done day after day. If you are interested in swimming for him, I would highly recommend talking to multiple he trained to get a better picture."
"Let’s start with the cons because there are a lot;
1. Limited knowledge of the game- has no business coaching at any level past U14.
2. Extremely disorganized- never plans a session, trip or event well. When we show up to practice there’s nothing set up 90% of the time, he then just comes out 5 minutes before practice is due to start or sometimes even later and puts down a few cones.. this leads to my next point…
3. Practices are very repetitive, pointless and lacks any direction. 80% of the practices are 5vs5 or 1vs1/2vs1/3vs2. Never anything tactical that deals with organizing a team tactically.
4. Extremely lazy- does the absolute bare minimum I would even go as far as saying below minimum. For example: he’s very rarely in his office, in two years we have never got a proper scouting report on an opponent instead it’s just “ watch #10 he’s good watch # 7 he’s fast. Never have we ever watched film on ourselves or any opponent, in two entire seasons..NEVER. He’s the last one in to training and first one out, while we’re taking off our cleats he’s already driving out the parking lot. In the spring he cancels 50% of practices. It’s almost as if he’s stealing a living.
Lack of insight- Never has the tactical solution to problems being encountered. “Go out there and figure it out” is his favorite line at half-time in a game where we’re being out played tactically.
Poor man management- lacks the ability to manage a squad, very normal to see very good players leaving even before season or semester is finished due to poor management and communication. Has a select few elites that get away with literally anything and has no affect on their status, position or playing time. When he communicates he tells you what you want to hear and what’s easiest to say in meetings but does the total opposite.
Pros-
1. If you’re a player who enjoys freedom and limited management then his coaching style will work for you.
2. He will support you through rough patches- if you’re struggling for form and could see you’re trying he will support you.
In conclusion, Coach Davies has no business coaching soccer at the college level, he is an imposter and needs to do the right thing and get a regular day job.
