"Someone should look into an associate athletic director that made money to help coach (wasn’t making enough money already) the jv softball team at Davenport. The jv team had a head coach leave for a full time position in the fall and then Ronda thought it best to make extra money and help the program. It’s clear, she lied to the athletic director and said the team didn’t have anyone else so she was being the hero and stepping in. That’s a complete lie. Davenport is all about spinning their own narrative but usually someone’s pocket is getting greased. The jv program was a complete disaster but shockingly and not so shockingly Ronda pulls the wool over the sheep’s eyes and take zero accountability or responsibility. Which is odd. Seeing she directly influenced every single decision made within the program. Not one thing done for the jv program was done without her direct knowledge, support or even her suggestions. In my opinion the next year for her not making extra softball money seemed to influence more of her bad decision making but in the end she ended up coaching again. This time the varsity program and guess what? She got an even bigger pay day to do that. You can silence the athletes at Davenport. You can scare them, you can manipulate them and it’s sad bc that’s already happened and will continue to happen. Davenport does a great job at deflecting, blaming and rewriting the truth. When they can’t buy you or manipulate you or scare you with threats - they then try and destroy you. This is the truth of the athletic department at DU. One small story that’s created so much hate and unkindness. That could have all been avoided if one person in leadership didn’t have an agenda. Davenport leadership had zero problem with this platform and even used many reviews to dismantle the softball program. It’s interesting they suddenly find fault in it now once actual truths about the school are being revealed. If that’s not a sign of a corrupt system and corrupt people. I don’t know what is. "

"Davenport University has one of the finest baseball facilities in the entire GLIAC conference However where incompetency looks for a scapegoat, a toxic environment exists. Some young men have witnessed in disbelief, the ire of a conflicting leader. Young athletes deserve and parents expect, a knowledgeable caring mentor, an inspiring role model, who always puts his players in the best possible position to succeed. Wise men say never stay where you are constantly disrespected, go where you are appreciated. Perhaps this is why over recent years, many young men opted to transfer from DU baseball, only to excel in their athletic and academic ambitions in a program with higher standards, where good men with moral character and leadership skills are recruited by capable Athletic Directors. "

"By far the WORST coach I EVER played for. She separated players from each other, treated her jv team like s**t, and paid no attention to those at the later practice. She didn’t allow her jv team to interact with varsity players, didn’t allow them in the lock room, didn’t allow them any sweatshirts sweatpants clothing etc, made them hit with broken tees and gave them drills in the cage to hit pop ups. She could’ve at least acted like she cared to be at those practices but instead she would on her phone and not even watch. A good coach would at least act like she cares about all of her players regardless of their team but if you were on Kathryn’s jv team she acted like you didn’t exist. I highly considered quitting while playing for her but I wasn’t going to let her win. The new coaching staff was so much better. I didn’t hate going to practice, I actually felt like I mattered to those coaches, we had team dinners, we were able to see our parents instead of feeling like we were prisoners of the old coaching staff. I get some coaches think that’s a distraction but we are at school for so many months so the fact that we can’t speak to our parents besides five minutes after is absurd. I’m so glad Kathryn isn’t a coach anymore bc any new player of hers would have their love for softball ruined by this monster. "

"Rhonda covered up a relationship between my teammate (football) and a female facility worker. She still gets paid and does photography for the baseball team. DU allows full time employees to be in relationships with student athletes and that is normalized. The same thing happened in their women’s basketball program. Rhonda covers a lot up but we all know. "

"Communication was nonexistent, and several things communicated to players later changed without communication or did not match reality. The environment focused on winning without proper coaching than caring about players as people or supporting their development. Overall, the team culture and coaching approach were beyond disappointing. Be careful about what you are promised. Other teams comment on poor coaching that causes losses"

"Letting your players yell at other players on the field seems about right with you. Great look for you and your program. When something goes wrong… yell at your teammate…chances are they might get more opportunities to make plays…. but hey why not embarrass them and then wonder why they maybe don’t make the next play…. "Ronda only listened to player complaints if it fit her narrative. Now there’s player complaints and she looks the other way. This is how it’s going be for as long as her friend is coaching here so honestly I would urge recruits to really look into this program because Brad and staff have free reign to do whatever they want to do and this has already negatively affected many young ladies on the team. This could be you next. The comments on here are funny yet sadly true. It won’t be a laughing matter when your child isn’t listened to and is excluded. The conference has gotten significantly worse and we have a talented roster. The mismanagement this season has been abundant and favoritism has taken center stage. Don’t get me started on pinch hitting for your better hitters when any analytics would point to the player with significantly higher numbers- instead this coach opts for players who have significantly less of a chance to get a hit. The amount of games lost by poor coaching by Brad and the pitching coach is mind blowing. It truly has been INSANE. It’s pretty clear Brad doesn’t care and is more concerned about making money for his rec ball tournaments and using his position as a “d2” coach to make more money for himself. I don’t understand why leadership wasn’t more concerned about looking for a coach that could put more time and energy into these girls and a coach that wasn't so consumed about making a profit for themselves. I don’t understand any of the decisions by this poorly run school, other than this coach was Ronda’s friend so automatic bid. I thought there could be a lot of value having Ronda’s friend in charge because it’s also abundantly clear way way more is being done for the program but the shitty coaching has overwhelmed that completely. Besides all of this mess, you’ll also have to deal with the fact he is very, very odd and likes to throw childish temper tantrums with the umpires. It’s all so so strange. "

"Should be a national news story that a head coach at this school had a pre existing relationship with an athlete in high school - disgusting- then again at this terrible school. Ronda and HR ALL COVERED THIS UP. And then they rewarded the athlete and coach. How SICK is this school. Then a facility worker dated the star football player - RONDA & Nicole did NOTHING. Truly a disgusting school. No accountability for her favorites or herself ever. If you think this is all wrong and question DU?? They get rid of you. Real great place. "

"Everyone knows the GLIAC was down this year compared to the past few seasons, and DU still barely clinched the last spot in the tournament. This is not surprising seeing the way this coaching staff has utilized their talented roster. It’s the true definition of INSANITY, doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. The reviews are entertaining but when it comes down to it there are young ladies’ college futures at stake here. Stay as far away from this place as you can, you’ll be glad you did."

You will significantly get worse with these coaches bc they have no idea how to coach at this level. You also will experience favoritism and a mentality of equal playing time which honestly doesn’t belong at this level of play. The on field decision making has been so brutal it’s lost us games. I urge anyone who wants to play here to just watch a couple games before considering. "Got handed a completely rebuilt program and has fumbled it because he’s a subpar travel ball director. Maybe instead of constantly going on vacation you should have actually worked with your team. Ronda knew this hire was going to happen years ago from my understanding. They just waited until the program was completely rebuilt to try to act like he did something. Quite the opposite actually. The on field decision making, costly low softball IQ and the mentality of playing everyone really shot this team in the foot. This is division 2 softball and instead of playing to WIN games he plays politics to try and appease people. When in reality if you played the best lineup consistently and didn’t make such terrible softball decisions this team would easily be in the upper half of the conference. This conference is significantly worse than previous seasons. I can’t comprehend how this team got swept by FSU 4 times. Jake the snake is sure happy this coaching staff took over because he couldn’t seem to beat the last one so he reverted to lying and stealing their pitcher. I have evidence that he also helped with the ousting of the last staff. All I wanted was my daughter to have a good experience playing and didn’t expect the politics and arrogance of this coach. I encourage anyone to watch a game and watch how Brad caches at third base. Terrible attitude and terrible body language. He is more motivated to argue calls than he is he to actually coach the game. I guess overall the most surprising aspect of this program now is all the lying and preaching of how Brad has made everything better. It’s like a political campaign of justification. Why is that the main focus? We have a very good, talented roster and the athletic department is more interested in putting the spotlight on Brad like he’s a hero. When in reality they should be putting the spotlight on the players. I believe they did the same thing last year with Ronda. I remember reading an article about how they surpassed wins from the previous season and the article made it seem like Ronda was the reason. What is actually wrong with this athletic department. Truthfully. From leadership to sports information. I’m starting to believe something is really mentally wrong with these people. There’s a reason why alums don’t come back and there’s a reason why so many people speak negatively about this school and program. I wish the hiring committee actually would have taken their time as I know many talented coaches applied for this position- even a guy who had won multiple championships and had multiple regional appearances at the division 2 level - he wasn’t even considered because it was already set in stone years prior by Ronda that Brad would get this job. Ronda seems to pretty hands off now though. Interesting how that all works. Not sure why she’s not criticizing what’s happening on the field. It’s been a year of p**s poor coaching all around and the rehiring of the pitching coach is also notably a big disaster. You have one of the best pitchers in the conference riding the bench because you have a pitching coach that doesn’t know what he’s doing. He caters to his certain favorites and everyone else is thrown to the wolves. Again, this entire experience has been like a poor, unstructured travel ball team. My daughters high school coach wouldn’t let his team leave the dugout in between doubleheaders so they would focus together as a team to win the next game. Brad has let our team scatter everywhere. It’s just not what we expected a division 2 experience would be and honestly I don’t know why I’m even shocked because we have coaches that have never coached division 2 softball so they simply are just providing their low level softball experiences so in reality Davenport leadership should be to blame. Such a disappointing coaching experience for us. I’ve heard a lot of negative comments about Brad when he was at the NAIA level but didn’t think much of it. Now I’m seeing and experiencing it first hand. He’s not a coach you want your daughter to play for. No growth or development is occurring here. Just politics, bad food pictures and a campaign to paint a picture that just isn’t truthful. Such a shame. I believe it’s time for DU leadership to be let go. I believe the entire athletic department will benefit from those changes. I wouldn’t have wasted my money on travel ball fees and traveling if I knew my daughter was coming to play for a rec ball coach at DU. It’s infuriating. "

Absolutely terrible coaching decisions throughout the entire year. I guess this is what you get when you hire a retired math teacher as a d2 head coach. Like wake up people. The roster is loaded with first team all state talent and has the biggest pitching staff in the conference that isn’t used right at all. What an epic failure from the hiring committee.
