"If you want to play for coach Melfy i hope you ran track or cross country in high school because she really emphasizes running and fitness. Not only will you be running just about a mile for every warm up each day, but you will also have conditioning on top of that. She should quit coaching volleyball and be a fitness leader for an ROTC program instead. Be ready to also hear degrading comments while you workout/run. "Im in shape, round is a shape" is her favorite saying. Also, if you have any injury or disability you will be told you have "boo boos" and you arent tough enough to play sports in college. If she doesnt tell you directly, dont worry- she will just tell her assistant coach or any of the girls on the sideline! Besides the insane workouts, she puts on a front to act like a good person but she is just as mean as Regina from Mean Girls (or worse). If she doesn't like you, everything you do or say will offend her and she will do everything in her power to convince herself and others that you are the worst person alive. She harps on the fact that her life has been harder than anything anyone else has gone through so dont complain- because you dont know real pain and suffering like she does (insert eye roll). If you are really good at kissing up to people, she might be the coach for you! If you aren't her favorite you can forget every imagination you have had of a spot in the lineup and start practicing your bench cheers. I hope you plan on winning every game because if you lose, you have an entire week of misery to look forward to. Enjoy!"

"Melfy is the worst coach I’ve ever had. She favorites people and plays them over players who clearly have better stats than them. She emotionally abuses players to the point where 4/5 seniors had to retire early due to their mental health being so bad. She does not understand the game and completely lies about everything. She will have a good parent meeting and promise so many things but everything that comes out of her mouth is false. She also will make comments about the players body images and constantly criticizes what the players wear — probably because it makes her uncomfortable during to her liking of women."

"This coach is about as toxic as they come. She will straight out lie, manipulate, and degrade 90% of the players on her team. The other 10% are her pet players and the players should be ashamed of that label. She recruited the sister of her assistant coach and has given her 100% of the playing time. The sister doesn't deserve to be a starter. However, she refuses to accept responsibility for her poor coaching decisions and puts the blame on the players (except her pets)."

She not only cares about you as an athlete, but as a person to, who wants you to have success on and off the field. "If you like intense coaching, this may be for you. Witnessed two girls crying at a recruiting camp. Yelling at players, and making them feel embarrassed….terrible communication and vibe. The university must be looking at the culture, and may want to know what’s actually going on. Maybe her style is to break players down to re-build? Don’t waste your money, as the camps were depressing. "
