"As an athlete who loved softball before coming to FDU, all I can say is RUN. Get out of FDU as fast as you can. Before becoming a college athlete, Coach Foye seemed to care a lot about his recruits and players. This is a lie. He does not care. If he cared, maybe he would do something to help when most of the team was struggling with their mental health. Everyone says they care, they do not… Coach Foye and the other coaches completely destroyed my mental health and any confidence I had in myself. They make you feel worthless. Also, the favoritism is insane. A girl on the team said in past years “I hope we lose because I am not playing.” This girl will not be punished but instead she will get to start the next game… Does that sound like a good team player? Some girls will work harder than anyone, putting in extra work and they will get one chance to perform. They will not get a hit in their one chance and never get another chance. But, some girls can go 0-20 and still start every game. Doesn’t make sense to me.
Also, there were problems in the past so he sent out a google form to snitch on your teammates. He said to write down who was being a bad teammate, what they are doing, and so on. This is a toxic environment… It all starts with your coaches. In professional sports, if the team isn’t successful, they fire the coach… Maybe if FDU had a coach that knew the game or cared about his athletes FDU softball would be more successful. Coach Foye needs to try harder to be a better coach. Or at the very least care about your players before they all leave. "
"Coach Foye is a very deceiving and manipulative individual. He does a good job of lying to parents and athletes to get them on campus, and once you are on campus, he does a complete 180. FDU softball runs on favoritism and daddy ball, and if you find yourself on the outs, it is extremely difficult to get a fair amount of playing time, or even any playing time at that. He does not communicate with players about what they can do to get better because he does not know a single thing about the sport of softball, which is ironic because he is a "division I head coach". If you are a pitcher who cares about her craft and wants to grow and develop at the next level DO NOT go to FDU. They do not know much about pitching and cannot help you to be successful at the next level, as a matter of fact you will probably get worse playing under Foye. Coach Foye does not create a familial environment with his team but rather creates divides by favoring certain players and allowing them to act as though they are better than others without any consequences. Coach Foye is not qualified to call himself a division I head coach and I would highly reccommend players and parents sincerely read these reviews and understand that they are extremely truthful and accurate. Coach Foye is a toxic individual who is a professional gaslighter and has no sense of accountibility. Softball is supposed to be fun but Coach Foye takes the fun out of it and actually ruined the love of the game for so many of his players. He has girls quit every year because the manipulation and disrespect from Foye becomes too much. I would highly advise not playing here, there are so many other great schools out there that will give you the same if not more money to play. "

"Racist!! This is the same coach who took a female soccer player who was cut from her team for using the N-word and derogatory comments on social media!! This poor excuse for a coach actually gave her a full ride after the incident!! He is a known racist! "
"I am an international student and had an OK experience. The US glorifies it's sports, and that is what I was expecting, but that was not the case when I got to Fairleigh Dickinson. Not at the fault of the school, but mine for the lack of research I did. I am glad this website exists for that reason"
"Most people don't realize bowling is even a college sport. It's just as intense as every other college sport, and coach does an amazing job of making us feel just as important."
"Allison is the athletic trainer at FDU and she is very personable, she cares about all athletes and is there for them when their coaches aren’t. She stands up for the athletes when the coaches do something wrong. She was especially great with the softball team because she stood up and voiced when the student-athletes were being treated poorly. It is too bad that no one in administration takes what she says seriously. "
"Chris Foye is someone who is a perfect example of who should NOT be a head coach. While there are many things that Chris Foye has done wrong lets get into the facts. Chris Foye should not have his job as a head coach and administration does not care about the program enough to protect young women, most of those who come here from across the country. He has created a toxic culture that is accepted over at FDU and the administration should be ashamed of themselves.
For starters, Chris Foye is a manipulative individual who enjoys gaslighting and twisting individuals until they break. He loves to have the girls fight amongst each other, he says that anything said in private meetings will stay between you and him; however, on multiple occasions, the girls hear that their names and what was said in their meetings were brought up in other meetings. He created a document before fall meetings demanding everyone to "list the habitual complainers or players with apathetic attitudes," "who do you consider the least hardest worker(s) on the team," and "who is the least committed." And when individuals refused to fill out those questions and judge their teammates, he harassed them into answering. HE ALSO ALLOWED CERTAIN PLAYERS TO VIEW OTHERS RESPONSES. Oh yeah. That was a horrible experience.
He is completely hyper focused on maintaining his reputation on the outside and convinces others that he is a great guy; however, that is the farthest thing from the truth. He will discuss private matters with other individuals, he will judge anyone who goes to the trainers, and he will attempt to tear anyone down. To talk about the unprofessionalism that Chris Foye displays, he will bring his girlfriend into the dugout, sometimes making out with her or grabbing her in front of the girls.
Chris Foye does not know how to treat young women, he has repeatedly made comments about the girls and their weights. Not only that, but when the team would go out to eat he would make comments about what the girls were eating and how much they were eating, both directly and indirectly. Sadly, this is not the worst part about this, he would only provide 4lbs of lunch meat for 26 girls, he would get food that contained things individuals were allergic to, and provide moldy bread. There were times where people were playing 2 games on empty stomachs with nothing but water and sunflower seeds.
Also, if anyone does their research, they will look at the transfer rates and the amount of girls who end up quitting this program. The reason for that is because of the liar that Chris Foye is. He puts on an act that he knows the game of softball and that he is the best coach; however, he depends on his assistant coaches. Not one thing has been taught by Chris, and on certain days he does not come to practices as he has another job to do. He has been inappropriate to the women coaches he has had in the past, and the male coaches he hires are interesting individuals. They are knowledgeable yes, but you have coaches that are peeing in water bottles on the vans in front of the girls. What kind of person is that? Not only that, but to not address the players and pretend it never happened? That's disgusting, especially when there is a higher part of administration on the trip. That individual is still a coach in the program.
Speaking of administration. No matter how many issues and concerns are raised to them, they turn a blind eye to everything that occurs within that program. There was suppose to be plenty of investigations looking into Chris and the things he has done since he has been here and administration has never followed up with anyone. Chris Foye has been heard making comments about players and their families for years. He has even said some of these things directly to administrators and all they do is laugh.
Chris Foye will bully everyone and manipulate, not only the girls, but their parents too. I would recommend running from this program and this evil man. He does not care about anyone, but himself, and in all honest, has ruined so many young women's views on college softball and their love for the game. He has awarded individuals who have blatantly stated that they wished for the downfall because 1) they weren't playing or 2) was threatened by other players doing well that they came up with lies. There are so many sad stories that have come out from this program that I could keep going on. However, what goes around comes around, and it is coming for Chris Foye hard. "
"If you’re thinking of coming to this school don’t. I spent all four years here and the only thing that kept me from transferring was the friends I made as an underclassman. As I got older, the team became more toxic with the younger groups coming in. Coach Foye did not seem to care. He would wonder why we were having issues but never address it. Our captain had to call team meetings and nothing was ever addressed because people were too scared to say anything without him being there.
If you’re not playing or hurt he does not care. As the years went on for me I experienced this first hand. The last few years at that school were some of the hardest years I’ve had to go through and he never noticed or said one thing to me. Shouldn’t a coach notice/pay attention their players mental health? He sure didn’t. He started team therapy because our class left and expressed this to him when we graduated. The school therapist was BOOKED UP so we couldn’t even see him and our coach was not providing help for girls who were struggling. And most of them were.
Let’s also point out the fact that he is untrustworthy. He would talk bad about his players to other players and other coaches. He wouldn’t show up to every practice and when he did , our assistant coach ran it (who is volunteer because the school refuses to pay him because of allegations). I experienced this first hand as well when he would call team meetings and talk to the freshmen separately and the upperclassmen separately when he said he wouldn’t and wouldn’t tell the under and upperclassmen issues that were expressed. Following those meetings, we would sit down and have team meeting and LIES would spill out about what he said about each group of people.
There is more I can say but this is a great amount of it. I did not come back for my fifth year, even though I had SEASONS taken from me, for many reasons. The love of the sport will be drained from you whether you’re playing, on the bench, or hurt. "
"I’m not even sure where to start with this one. I’m not quite sure how he got the job without being knowledgeable in softball. Ask any person from the team and they would tell you they haven’t learned one thing from him simply because he does not know the game or anything involved with it. If another coach gave any sort of input all he would do is repeat that input without even understanding what it means. There is absolutely no coaching involved at all with this guy. Moving on to the next problem, the favoritism here is unreal, coming from someone that floated in the middle of the pack you really were able to see the difference in treatment from player to player, what kind of coach asks a freshman for advice on an important play coming up in the game that she has nothing to do with? One that simply doesn’t know anything. The communication couldn’t be more poor. He would talk trash about players behind their back with other players and then not own it. He plays the whole “he said she said” game and it really is just so immature as a coach. There have been instances where he has admitted to something he’s done wrong (which is rare) while other coaches are present and 10 minutes later after those coaches have left he goes back on it and places the blame on the coaches who have left the practice!!! You can’t preach ownership and responsibility when there is none being taken yourself as a coach, blame was only placed on other coaches when they weren’t there to defend themselves. Hence why these is SO much disagreement between coaches. Along with the favoritism comes a really toxic team culture, when the coach consistently puts certain players above everyone else, it just creates rifts in the team because he really blows some of these girls heads up and it’s really unprofessional. Part of that rift is the daddy ball that comes along with this program, when you can hear your coach in the dugout promising a dad that his daughter will be playing when he shows up, you can’t help but to think that is despicable. No other words. There is a consistency in rewarding bad behavior with him as a coach, a girl took off a week just because she wanted to and came back and started every game like nothing happened, but when anyone else would ask for a day to finish even a final paper he would give you a very hard time about it. Very select treatment in this program and not something you think you would ever see at a college level, let alone a division 1. Another thing needed to be mentioned but this teams coaching DOES NOT recruit personality or behavior outside of the softball field!!!! There is no mesh to the team because he recruits people who just don’t buy into the good culture trying to be built. A couple other problems faced under this coach was the fact that many girls on the team were having a hard time maintaining a healthy food intake, we would not get fed between games. We would be at the field from 9 am till 6/7 pm and never get fed. He would have some slimy old sandwich meat and some moldy bread in a cooler and claim he fed us. Moving onto the ”fundraising” we did, we would work the Rutgers football games selling food and drinks, we left at 7 am and got back at 1 am and had games at 8 am arrival the next day, not to mention we had girls who’s fingers were blistered and burned from having to put chicken fingers and fries in a basket that just came out of the blistering hot oil during the entirety of the game. During that time frame of working the football game, we were not fed either nor were we fed on the ride back. I wouldn’t consider that a coach who cares about the well being of his student athletes. With all this fundraising we did, we saw nothing from it. If you want to go D1 choose a school that you will have a good experience with, many girls regret their time here and that is why so many transfer out and don’t end up even playing anymore. This program was horrible and will always be as long as this guy continues to coach this program. Just a heads up, the AD is just as bad and could also care less about the well being of his student athletes as well. People have come to him with the issues and he had claimed to open up “investigations” years ago. Nothing ever came out of any of it. "
