I no longer play the game I love and have played since I was 5 because of this coach with a major ego problem. I would not recommend. He is fake and will change as time passes. His mood is determined by wins and loses and your value is determined by that as well unfortunately. "

"All around not a good guy. Will be fake to your face and stab you in the back. Terrible role model but will give you a crash course of how to get ahead and be fake if you’re around long enough. I’ve had multiple players on multiple teams write their experiences playing for Jake and many have been negative. Probably a reason why he’s coached at 10 schools and didn’t stay at one for a long period of time. Hope the truth eventually comes out at FSU I’m sure it won’t but this man has ruined softball for many players throughout the country. "

"I committed to play volleyball because the coach felt so welcoming and caring. Until I was actually on campus then it’s like a light switch. She allowed the culture on the team to tell you how your faith should be, bully you, and you werent even allowed to have other friends other than your teammates because that was what was instilled in everyone’s mind is that you had to be with teammates 24/7. She gave me a larger size sweatshirt and told me to eat more to fit into it, after I had asked for a medium. When it came to volleyball skill and knowledge, the assistant coach at the time was the one with all the technique skill and knowledge on the game and she was more the motivational coach. She even snapped at our assistant once in front of the team because he was actually coaching us on what to do better and not just reading a quote to motivate us. A few years after I stopped playing she saw me in the campus cafeteria and asked me if I was married or pregnant yet? Basically implying that I was a disaster or a mess since I stopped playing volleyball. Just sad that to this day, this is what I remember from her being my coach. It’s very sad how long the reality of it stays with you and how now I realize how much better I deserved and I should have transferred."

"Wouldn’t talk or look at us if you weren’t a starter. Didn’t travel players he didn’t like. Had members of our team isolate those that didn’t completely conform to him. Lies to players and recruits about scholarships and makes them make rash decisions in fear of their money being taken away. Doesn’t believe in mental health and has a huge ego. No one should coach the game the way he does. We aren’t in the military, we chose to go to college and play a game. Turns players into bullies and encourages unsportsmanlike behavior on the field. He belittles umpires and other coaches every chance he can get. After therapy - had to go because he gave me a mental breakdown and extreme anxiety - a lot of his behavior must stem for poor self esteem and low confidence. That’s why he feels the need to treat people the way he does. "

"Watch how this man coaches and treats umpires. I watched him belittle a female umpire at a game for about 15 minutes. Terrible sportsmanship and a terrible role model. Talks a lot about coaching in the SEC and BIG 10 but his teams have produced terrible offenses and a weak defense. His wife is the only shining star in the coaching staff. Every article you read on the Ferris website mentions this dude like he is the savior. Literally every single one has to have his name in it for all that HE did. How big of an ego can you possibly have. Give the credit to who is actually doing it. THE PLAYERS!!!!!!"

"As a parent I’m deeply troubled of the behavior you allow your players to display on the field. If you want to be a part of team that consistently displays unsportsmanlike behavior, go to Ferris. You also flat out lie to your recruits about their experience and what you will do tor them. Your pitchers should never hit. They were terrible hitters last year hitting in the .100’s. How and why did you continue to let them get chances at the plate when you had much better players on the bench not receive the same opportunities. I’m assuming something was promised to them, atleast I know for a fact it was promised to one. This type of favoritism doesn’t belong in college athletics. Shame on you. "

"He is mentally and emotionally abusive and a narcissist. He will push you out if you don’t perform or conform to him. He is controlling and tries to control your lifestyle and who you even date. Multiple players have entered the transfer portal in only 3 years and he’s even pushed a lot of players out of the program. Worst experience I’ve ever had playing.
