"Kara Mupo has done some damage on me and to so many others. Within the time she spent at Mason 22 people and maybe more to come have quit or transferred institutions (in >4 years). I loved Mason and the people there (and still do), but that was not enough to stay and keep enduring what she was putting us through unfortunately. It’s sad that she’s made a lot of people lose their love for the sport of lacrosse, including me for some time. I could say so much more, but that’s not the point. Kara was an amazing player and I don’t necessarily dislike her as a person , but not all good players/good people make good coaches. "
"Has done irreparable damage to my daughter’s mental health. She’s probably got great lax knowledge but is otherwise ignorant, kinda dumb, and irresponsible with the power she has.
The AD office supports no matter what. "
"very willing to give good feedback and advice when asked. also always willing to meet in office to watch any video/discuss any questions or problems.
understands when athletes have complicated schedules due to academics and is willing to coordinate adjusted practices schedules for those students. also is aware of student athlete mental health and portrays it well. "
"I can’t even choose five from this list. I mean nothing positive to say about her. Gave me so much trauma and self doubt. Only impact she ever made was in a negative way. I truly hope I never see her again. "
"Does not offer critical feedback, good training nor motivation. Students are rowdy, unprofessional, sloppy and unsupervised in campus team areas and at regattas showing a lack of training and dedications. Turns issues over to student leadership instead of handling the problem head on. "
"From what I have seen she does not care about players mental well being. No communication on any fronts unless it’s your first year. After that there is no communication or coaching. Doesn’t care about winning team but does care about her beliefs and opinions. Very detrimental to many players mental wellbeing. "
"I have had experience with Manya for many years and have never seen any of the negative comments exhibited by her. She truly cares for the athletes and has their best interests at heart "
"I can’t say enough about how toxic this coach was- it is unfortunate that it took George Mason so long to get rid of her. She was manipulative- she tore down her players and played them against each other- made up lies and spread them- I hope the soccer community takes notice and doesn’t allow her to coach again- she is not good for your daughters mental health- a lot of counseling needed after having this coach- she is getting what she deserves."
"Condescending, unable to motivate players, evidenced by lack luster seasons as head coach, thinks highly of herself, puts her needs before team and players, just because she plays soccer does not mean that she is a good coach, lack soccer IQ, keeps doing the same thing even when it is not getting the desired results. Plays mental games with players, lack of transparency, lacks soccer acumen, an overall hot mess. What could they be thinking of to ever give her the head coaching job? Did they not check references carefully?"
"She is a horrible person and coach. Mentally abusive to her players, not honest and creates a horrible cut culture for players - some of the better players and people get cut with no reason or explanation. Changes scholarship money midseason - also fired two assistant coaches for no reason. A few player lawsuits in the works - stay away!"
"She is a horrible coach. Encourages players to talk behind each others backs, leading to negative team culture & toxic environment. Does not care about the mental health of her players, encourages lying, and leads people on, only to cut them later. Verbally abusive to her players and rewards players with game time for tattling on teammates to the coaching staff."
"She’s not afraid to cut players for little to no reason she has verbally hurt a lot of players and little to no soccer IQ she’s is the worst coach I’ve seen "
"Terrible culture. Talks about current and former players behind their backs, making it awkward for the teammates who have to listen it. Tries to talk about winning and being a leader but it’s clear he doesn’t lead anything, especially with pitchers, and it’s lost multiple games. He lacks any ability to manage in game and insults the pitchers with the choices he lets the pitching coach make. He can’t lead the other coaches, let alone the team. When he talks to players, no one understands what he’s saying because he will talk for 20 minutes and say nothing. When he does a one on one talk with anybody, it feels like a cross between someone trying to be your friend and sell you a used car at the same time. Feels manipulative.
He goes out and parties on away games. Players walk by the hotel bar at night and he’s sitting there drinking when there’s a game the next day. Bus left 20 minutes late the next morning because it was waiting for him. Some guys think it’s cool, and it’s the same ones that also go out and party on away games and the coaches don’t care. Treats the freshmen like crap, has them doing stuff no one else has to do and demeans them, then encourages upperclassmen to do it too. Violates NCAA rules all the time. It’s like he’s still trying to be one of the guys instead of being the coach and it’s weird.
Players have come here and gotten worse with him as a leader, and become angry/confused because no one understands what his expectations are other than “don’t suck”. He talks about accountability but can’t even hold himself to a standard. He’s always talking about what he did as a major league pitcher but I haven’t seen him do anything as a coach… He might have been a good major league pitcher, but he’s an awful coach. I don’t plan to tell anyone to come here if he’s still head coach"
"I’m an endowment donor for Coach Greg’s golf team. He truly believes in the student athlete. He strongly stresses academic and course discipline. He is molding Mason golf into a sought after and winning program. He is exactly what our university needs. His goals are focused upon a strong team culture and tournament success. He has a player’s background so he understands what his team experienced. "
"Racist. Discriminatory. Only favors men and fastest girls. Does not care about mental health or well being. He coaches club teams and other coaches dont like him. "
"He is terrible. Shows favoritism. And texts girls late at night. He is not understanding nor actually cares about you as an individual. Many Title IX reports against him. "
"Coach is not personal at all, doesn’t create relationships with players. He picks favorites and won’t play you if you’re not a favorite despite performance on field. He drinks on road-trips and make a fool of himself. Doesn’t create a winning culture. It’s no wonder why double digit players transfer out every year. "
"Camp is very unorganized, selfish, always puts himself above the team. He talks down on current players behind their back to other players. This creates a very bad team culture. I didn’t learn anything new as his player."
"If I could rate him a zero, I would. He has clear favorites and plays them every chance he gets. He pays attention only to his favorites and chooses to ignore everybody else, not trying to get them better. He has literally told people, including me, that we need to be "perfect" to be able to play. This boy is immature and doesn't know how to coach"
"Whatever you do, DO NOT COME HERE TO PLAY FOR HIM! He does not know how to play the game and turns you into a worse player by teaching the wrong mechanics and fundamentals. Verb is not motivating, smart, or likable. PLEASE! I don't want anyone to lose their love for the game. I had NEVER thought of quitting softball until I came here. "
"Coach Davis can relate to his players and still develop them which tends to be a fine line for a college coach. His passion and knowledge are unmatched. "
"Very knowledgeable and straightforward. He's honest and knows how to coach. He was a good player and is a better coach. He takes the time to get to know his players and help them in any way possible, on and off the court. He's not just a coach, he's a friend and I wouldn't want to play for anyone else. "
