"The king of gaslighting, name calling, threatening, scapegoating and backhanded compliments. If you have any other offers, take them. Stay away from him and NIC Volleyball.
2024-25 NIC season was a disaster. He bragged nonstop about all his leadership and communication certifications. Terrible coach, terrible communicator. No team captains. Lots of handpicked bullies. No regular player meetings. He did not call anyone by their name or number, he singled us out and called us by our weight, height, or by nicknames made up by him or other players.
If he liked you, practices were optional, and you could bully teammates and give nicknames. He looked the other way when girls were bullied during practices.
During halftime or after games he would yell, cuss, and tell us how worthless we were.
All the 2024-25 player stats on the NIC website are incorrect; the entire coaching staff know but refused to make changes. They said the stats did not matter because nobody is good enough to play on.
No grade checks during the 2024-25 season, 3 or 4 of his favorites did not have the grades to play. All the coaches knew. He said grade checks were not mandatory. They are on academic probation now.
He recruited a club player of his. She is a toxic. Practices were mandatory for everyone but her. She cussed at us and the coaches. If she didn’t like you, you got a nickname. Semester 1, no grade checks. Semester 2, she is on academic probation.
He picked bullies to run NIC social media accounts. Go check, there are no birthdays, awards, or anything.
Practices were mandatory but you never knew if you were practicing or watching. If you spoke up, he threatened to take away your scholarship. If you defended a teammate, he threatened to take away your scholarship. Some LOI players were told they didn’t have a LOI and were given no scholarship.
The team finished the season 8-13. He blamed us for making him look bad. No cardio. No lineup changes. He blamed us and said some would not be invited back or he’d take our scholarships back.
7 sophomores on the team. Only 3 sophomores are graduating. 2 girls quit the team and moved away from CDA.
None of the sophomores are playing at university next year. Because nobody is good enough, right Drew.
Drew, Jess and Hedder talked 2 sophomores into dropping classes so they can return for the 2025-26 season. They’ll be back for a 3rd year and on a full ride.
Drew has a recruit at NIC right now. He had no housing for her, so made us move this strange girl into the dorm for the week. She’s a bad dream and we are stuck with her and having to dodge the RA.

"He does care about his athletes very deeply. He is available in his office to come talk to, and he will check in about mental health with athletes consistently. Gehn has a rough around the edges style of coaching. He is honest and direct, at all times. His training plan is very unique, and there are certain things that could be easily done to optimize the team that are not. "
"Although I did not accept my offer here, Natalie was very nice during the entire recruiting process. I have a good friend who is going to Gonzaga for tennis and she raves about Natalie as well"
"Coach Stewart is really tough and really expects a lot out of his athletes because he wants, more then anything for you to succeed. He is direct and stubborn but it is for all the right reasons. I have never questioned his motives or his devotion to his athletes. "
