"Coached my daughter for 4 years. He helped her game but more than that he helped her grow as a person off the field. BK always made us feel like our daughter had someone looking out for her away at school. "
"Coach Warren now coaches at a division 3 school in Albany NY, Russell Sage College. I had a very bad experience with this coach overall. Not to be too egotistical, but I myself am a great player. More than halfway through the season held the third spot in D3 for overall recorded saves for goalies in the NCAA III, but our team was not good and I believe that falls at the fault of the coach. For starters, we had small numbers 15 girls to be exact. With a small team, it is important to prioritize fitness as there are limited subs. Coach Warren failed to do this and when brought to her attention she became offended. This season Coach Warren had a total win count of 1 game out of 16 games in total because of lack of organization on the field, not giving enough time to focus on fitness and not any time to improving stick skills. In practice, the girls had no hustle initiated by the coach and most were standing around doing nothing physical. Granted, this is her first year, but she also just doesn’t listen to her players either. I myself was made a captain this year, so me not playing through the season speaks for itself. I had reached a breaking point of not feeling heard by my coach. I went to coach Warren, along with another player, to express how I felt about the defensive line and how it looked/functioned from a goalies stand point. I expressed what I thought needed to be done. Coach Warren did not appreciate my input, even though she asked me and this player to express what else thought, and ultimately decided to punish me when I said nothing offensive or wrong about the situation. She pulled me from the game the following day out of the starting line up along with another player. I had felt so unheard I just couldn’t take it anymore and turned in my uniform and band. Coach Warren also has a habit of playing sides. On one hand, she will tell a player one thing, and for better words, compliment that and tell them what they want to hear and agree with that player, but on the other hand, turn around to the other players and talk poorly about them. In one of my individual meetings she said blatantly that our team “sucked and was not good” and that I just had to ignore the girls. What head coach tells a player that? What coach is happy with settling with mediocracy? This is your team if you truly felt that way, why wouldn’t you do something about it? Make an effort? On another note of talking about players, coach Warren is a young coach which is very apparent in her behavior with the girls on the team. She was very close with one of the other captains on the team as they played together in club and shared the same coach. She would talk poorly about me and other players on the team to this other captain and I eventually along with others, would hear back about it. That to me was devastating in itself. To think that someone I thought had my back would talk poorly against me just destroyed my team/own morale. Overall coach Warren is a very poor coach and I don’t recommend playing under her. I will note she is knowledgeable of the sport, but that completely falls to the wayside when one’s coaching methods are more towards the “buddy buddy” style and not towards the benefit of the team. It is unfortunate I had to lose a sport I loved so dearly in my junior season. I forever will have a place in my heart for field hockey, but I will never continue that love under the guidance of a malicious coach. "
"very loud, doesn't hold back when he's talking or giving directions, been coaching for over 30 years so I can definitely trust that he knows what he's doing, great support system"
"Has a tendency to lash out unnecessarily. Harshly makes fun of players and embarrasses them. Very awkward, not approachable at all, sometimes makes one uncomfortable. His children running around the pool deck is distracting. Shames or screams at players with no positive reinforcement, therefore nobody is motivated. "
"Hartwick has a beautiful campus, but the athletic facilities are pretty outdated. They don't really have places for multiple away teams when they visit. "
