"I had the best experience getting recruited by Annick. She was the most communicative coach ever and very early on let me know where I stood on her recruiting roster. I could tell immediately how much she cared about the wellbeing of her athletes. When I went for my overnight I was so impressed by what great team culture there was, everyone was so supportive of each other. "
"Sometimes Justyce could work on his communication and organizational skills, but generally he is extremely good at coach sprints and is very supportive and motivating. "
"Great coach and very helpful to have a female coach. She could give some more direct feedback day to day but I think she has already gotten results and has a great style. "
"Justyce is fun, kind, and very invested in the women's sprints and jumps program. He brings positive energy to practice and inspires his athletes to work hard."
"Annick is a supportive, welcoming, and empowering coach. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to run in college, but Annick welcomed me with open arms. She is enthusiastic about running and inspires her athletes to be the best versions of themselves in all facets of life. As a Haverford grad, she understands that the rigors of academics are a large portion of her athletes' lives and is respectful and proud of their commitments to intellectual growth."
"She is a wonderful coach who has turned a team that was at odds with each other to a loving supportive community. She works well with players and knows how to make everyone feel important. She is the coach you want for every player not just the ones who are “the best”, but she makes everyone want to get better and she sees the potential in all her runners/ athletes. She has no favorites and acknowledges everyone’s successes. She is still a new coach and is still molding her team community. She is still trying to find the balance between demanding the best out of everyone and seriousness and still making sure everyone feels comfortable and respected. She may not be the coach for runners who want the most competitive environments."
"Haverford has both indoor and outdoor tracks and a great trail for running as well. The indoor track was recently redone and both indoor and outdoor facilities are great. "
"Kate is welcoming and gives great advice, even beyond her specific event category. You can tell that she really cares about her athletes and the sport. "
"Justyce is an amazing coach. His belief in his athletes appears limitless. He inspires us to work harder than I could believe possible and be fierce competitors. "
"Annick is so invested in the team and each of her athletes. She pushes us to be the best competitors we can, while also always looking out for our well-being. She is welcoming, caring, exceptionally organized, and has a true love of the sport. "
"Justyce is really great at make personalized plans and building on specific points for improvement. He is super knowledgeable about sprinting and files events and is a great asset to the team. He makes training so fun and will definitely push you."
"Has grown me as a runner beyond training but also mentally and emotionally. She believes in everyone and provides training fit for your personal goals"
"Really cares about the her athletes. Gives them freedom to be student who is fully immersed in their community, but holds them accountable to be the best athlete they can be."
"Kate is caring and supportive! She checks in with me after all my races and gives great advice. She emphasizes taking care of ourselves, too, so I never feel pressured to race if I'm not physically or mentally well."
"I walked on to the team late in college, but having Annick as a coach made me wish I had joined much earlier. It didn't matter that I had never ran before, she showed that she believed in my and cared about my success as much as the fastest girls on the team. The team culture she's created made it so that I blended with the team and was able to make friends quickly."
"Justyce is an amazing coach!! He has so much energy and keeps practice positive and fun while also making us work hard and improve. He's able to motivate us and push us through the hardest practices and turns us into much better athletes because of it. He could probably coach any sport and do better than a lot of current coaches just because he's able to inspire and motivate us. He's also a great communicator, always has a clear plan for practice, and never leaves anyone behind -- he spends time with every member of the team."
"Carter is a knowledgeable and very motivated assistant coach to our team. He has only been with us for two years so far, so he still has space to grow in his role, but he is absolutely dedicated to the success of our team. His strengths are his love for the sport and his open mindedness -- he's always available to talk about fencing, give lessons, and work out what a fencer needs to improve. He's also a nice person and very approachable."
"Aldis is an incredible coach that has completely changed my experience with fencing as a sport. His positive attitude and relentless kindness and support allow me and my teammates to imagine achieving our goals and pushes us to work towards them. He's done so much work to bolster our team culture, as well -- he sets up workshops about mental health, eating and nutrition, and whatever topic we think is important to discuss. He spends time meeting with the captains every week to go over any issues that have come up in the team and helps us work through them. He makes it very clear through his actions and words that he cares deeply about everyone on the team, everything from their fencing to their academics to their social life and adjustment to college. Something that exemplifies all of these qualities to me is that after every meet we have, Aldis will announce to the whole bus on the way home that there's an empty seat next to him and anyone can come to talk about how they felt about the day or how they're doing in general. I've overcome many mental blocks in my fencing by talking to him on the bus on the way home. Overall, I could not imagine a better assistant coach for our team."
"Annick Lamar is the most caring, motivational, and knowledgeable coach I’ve ever had. She has been able to develop a team culture that not only encourages peak performance, but also allows for runners to focus on other important things in their lives such as academics and mental health. It has truly been an honor and a privilege to be part of her team."
"Annick is an absolutely amazing coach and I feel so lucky to have her leading our XC/track team! She is incredibly caring, not just about running-related things, but also academics and our overall well being, and she is super approachable and always willing to help in any way she can. "
"Annick is the best coach I've ever had. She knows what it's like to be a woman in sports, and supports her athletes in athletics, academics, and personally."
"Weight room is shared between student and athlete populations, so it gets busy during peak practice times. Practice and game day facilities are wonderful! We have an indoor track that many schools in the Philadelphia area travel to use during the winter."
"Kate is super knowledgeable about shoes (ie. when to replace trainers, what trainers are best for your feet) and is very observant of the non-spoken needs of her athletes. Whenever I have an off day, she notices and reminds me to take care of myself/know my limits for pushing the workout that day."
"This coach is very immature, plays favorites and her practices are mundane and boring. She disrespects the players and takes all of the fun out of the game. If you're not one of her favorites, she will shatter your confidence. Instead of making you feel accepted, she makes you feel rejected."
"This coach is one of the worst coaches in college softball. She has no true knowledge about the game and only plays her favorite players. She was a pitcher in college and yet consistently fails to coach the pitchers on her own team. She also does not encourage a healthy team culture. Players that she coaches only get worse throughout their time there because she does not know how to coach. Her coaching style is cancerous and overall, she should simply NOT be a coach. "
"Huge reason to go to Haverford is coach Poppe. Very positive, makes the right decisions, understands the game. Far better than the alternatives we saw in recruiting. "
"I don’t understand how coaches like him could be hired at a program with such pedigree. He is way out of his league and has little to no tactical knowledge at his disposal. Reliance on competent assistant coaches with regards to soccer tactics is crucial. He is a great, honest guy but not someone who should be leading a program. Was not the top person for the job and certainly has rode the coat tails of the previous coach as long as he could. "
"Coach Brenner was a dedicated professional and I was able to work with him when he was a coach at Elmira. During the recruiting process he was excellent at answering any questions and helped throughout the my time looking for schools."
"Having also played at a liberal arts college and professionally, Niki knows so much about the game as well as what it's like to balance academics and athletics. She deeply understands and appreciates how sports parallel life and never fails to use squash coaching as a way to help you grow into being a better person as well. "
"Our team had a tough time fully supporting our coach because there was a lack of accountability on his part. He rarely followed through with plans for the team and was very inconsistent when dealing out punishments for failing to follow team rules."
"Annick is incredible! She is the perfect combination of laid back and flexible, but also expects everyone to compete their hardest. I am so grateful for her! "
