"I think great coach, very knowledge about the game. her emotions can be very up and down, and her methods can be kind of old school. But have thick skin and your fine."
"Coach Jordan was an amazing coach in my opinion. She pushed us to our limits and we succeeded. The work was hard but it was worth it to become winners. She turned Iowa Westerns program around. She turned me into so much better of a player and made me tougher. I would 100% recommend this program to anyone who wants to improve and become a tougher individual. "
"Solid AD I didn’t have too much interaction with him but he’s very supportive of the athletics programs at Iowa Western on and off the field in the classroom and on the field. Can be accessible if you need to talk to him but there’s not much reason to go directly to the AD but if you want you can"
"Coach Cougill is one of the best coaches I’ve ever had in my long career, took me as a walk on and developed me into a player that not only got D1 offers but got drafted as well. Even now years after I played for him I still contact him weekly and talk just to hear his advice."
"I knew going to college for athletics would be a major time commitment but throughout my time there, I put an extensive amount of physical and emotional stress on my body. I was able to grow my fundamentals and knowledge about the game. However, this was at the expense of my mental well being. Treated as an athlete rather than as a person, my experience as a whole negatively affected my mental health. Having a coach to player relationship wasn’t something I thought I would need. But since leaving Iowa Western, I have discovered how important that is and how much better my experience could have been if I had that. "
"Shane was my AD at IWCC a few years ago, was super supportive of his athletes, and i know he provided my coach with a lot of support, and also held her accountable when needed. He was always super nice and easy to talk to. Super professional "
"Fantastic facilities, the school has put a lot of work into the softball, baseball, soccer field complex. The biggest downfall of Iowa Western is the location. If students want to leave campus, they would have to drive, there isn’t anything within walking distance."
"I understand that my experience may differ from a lot of athletes, but Heidi played a huge part in changing my life. She motivated me so much, made me into a stud athlete, and was there for me so many times outside of just softball. What people don't realize about Heidi, is that she would genuinely do anything for any of her players, whether you are her "favorite" or not, she would drop anything for anyone on the team if they needed help. Yes she is intense, yes she has crazy methods, but one thing that lady knows how to do- is win and bring girls together. "
"Nice facilities atmosphere was good. New concession stand and bathrooms towards the end of my daughter’s time at the school. Coaches were ok, they knew the game but didn’t treat the players great. "
"I learned a lot from this coach as she knows a lot about the game but felt a lack of support personally and for anything outside of softball. As a juco coach she didn't help a lot with recruitment to a 4 year even though she made promises during my recruitment that it would be 100% on her and not a concern for me. If softball is your whole life and thats all you care about however, I think that playing for her would definitely increase your knowledge and skill of the game but I think personally there needs to be more personal development and character building while coaching young women. "
"I really enjoyed working with Shane. He was super supportive of the athletics at IW and he was super involved. Really great guy and a great leader of the Iowa Western Athletic Dept"
"Coach Jordan knows softball but did not take good care of her players. She would keep them at practice after the cafeteria was closed, players would then have to drive off campus to go elsewhere to purchase their dinner. The players were also poorly fed on away trips. She was mentally degrading to players and other coaches. This was an experience from Iowa Western Community College. "
"You will like her if you’re her favorite. She did not care about players as a person. Also, did not get to know anyone outside of the field. She was very bipolar. One day she could be very nice and fun. The next day you would have to be prepared to have the worst day. She would stop talking to you in general if you get hurt. She did not even acknowledge you if so. Many of us could speak up on all the horrible things she did to us players. I feel like I did not develop as a player at all and only got worse from her coaching. "
"She was my JUCO coach and was very much bipolar. One day she would be great then next she would want to chop our heads off. She developed me defensively but offensively didn’t help much. I could list many stories that could’ve gotten her fired but we won so many games that they would never fire her."
"She is a very direct and intense coach. She cares deeply about the game but not about her players or there wellbeing. She doesn’t really bond with her players very much or want to have a good relationship with them. "
"She is very knowledgeable about the game however doesn’t relate to most of the team unless you are 2-4 of her favorites. 6 hour practices and said school and meals can wait. One trip to Alabama it was raining and we got beat, coaches went to the bus and made the players sit in the rain outside of the bus for 2 hours before their next game. "
"Super knowledgeable coach. She knows softball really well, however, she's emotionally draining. If she likes you, you'll love her! But for a lot of people, you were just a player to her, not necessarily a person. I never really felt cared for as an individual, only an athlete to her. "
