"If she likes you, you’ll love her as a coach. The second that she finds something she doesn’t like, she will no longer coach you in practice and will talk s**t to other coaches loud enough for other players to hear it but doesn’t say it to your face. She makes you feel like s**t about yourself about 85% of the time. The positive thing about coach Herzig is she will accept any ask for extra work and will treat you like a human there, but that ends once the extra work ends. She does pour a lot of time into being a coach but maybe she should dial that back and learn to be a decent human being first"

"She will be the nicest person you have ever met if you are one on one but will be the first person to stab you in the back if given the chance. She does not know what she is doing as head coach and just tried to ride the wave of Mickey Deans recruits. The team itself was a really close group for the most part but I really wonder if it’s because we all trauma bonded "

"I would never recommend Tommy Baker to be a coach for a Division 1 sport- or frankly any sport at all. He creates an awful environment that pits players against each other. His favoritism for certain players will always determine his choices for events- and there is nothing you can do about it. He absolutely will make you feel like you’re not valued as a student, an athlete, and sometimes even a human. I would say to never be under his guidance. There simply cannot be a worse coach than him. "

"He was knowledgeable with swimming but was a terrible coach and person. I don’t know how he still has a job… He would verbally abuse a former assistant coach that put her into tears occasionally, when one of his swimmers went to him in need of help he would say he is there for you but never followed through with his word, and he is now dating the 3rd former female athlete at JMU he used to previously COACH. He is far from professional. The only reason all of that is looked upon is because he has winning seasons. And it’s really a shame. JMU is a great place with a great girls team and that’s why people commit. Not because of Dane. If I could go back and time and change my commitment, I would as he ruined my college experience."
